I think I got it. There were pairs of % entries in each of the first 2
sets. Now I need to figure out how that second % is being populated. No
matter what I enter for the subject line it doesn't change the host file.

The alternate mail isn't enabled in the setup. However, I did change the
host file manually so that both have %c but the result is the same. The
body of the message continues to change as I change the subject to %u or %p
or any of the other variables. It's just that the subject is not changing.

looking at the content of the file you send me, they have the exact same
settings for the primary mail server's subject (being %c is %s)
For the alternate they have %p is %s

They look the same. Take a peek. MSG015 reports on the subject like I want
it to but MSG017 does not.

I am having a problem with the subject line not reporting the check with
notifications. For example, if I am checking a NT service and I am
reporting on %c is %s it only says that my server is down instead of saying
"NT Service blah blah on Server Name is down". Then in the body of the
message it says what specifically is down and thats normal. When we
originally set this up with version 2 it reported just fine in the subject
line. In fact, existing entries from our version 2 installation are still
reporting ok but new entries do not even though they are set up exactly the
same way. Any help would be appreciated.
