A long time ago I thought I heard someone mention that this problem cropped up when they started using the EventLog check, but I can't find that message any more. Could there be another COM check that is interfering with this one?
Nate

I originally reported this problem a number of months ago. I now run the SMTP2OP3 code on another W2K machine that has only 1 CPU. My previous machine has 2 CPUs and I encountered the same problem after about 100 or so checks. Since both machines are W2K and patched at the same levels, I can only assume that the CPU number has something to do with it.
Good Luck,
John

I am running Windows 2000. Do you think the version of windows affects this issue?

We tried it a lot of cycles and never saw that problem.
Somehow the OS looses track of the OCX that is used within the COM check, I realy don't know/understand why
Dirk.

Dirk, responding back. This is the version for the plug-in (smtp2pop3) v1.0.0.21 - 26-AUG-2004 off the website. The version of SA is 4.1.1609

Dirk,
This looked me up this morning:
INBOUND MAILFLOW CHECK is DOWN ERR docheck : Component 'pops50.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid( 339- 0)
Mail generated by Servers Alive at Wednesday, November 17, 2004 12:07:17 AM.
No changes. It's been running for two weeks without errors. The server is dedicated to SA and is rebooted weekly
The rest of SA (and associated plug-ins) has turned in rock solid performance. This plug-in appears to be the primary exception based on previous reports to this list.
Would very much like to use this again in the future, once the root cause is understood and resolved.
Thanks for your time.
-William
