So would i remove and reinstall servers alive into the Oracle 8 directory?
Would the top level directory be OK, or would i need to install into the
ORACLE_HOME/bin directory?

A workaround is to run the serversalive.exe file from the Oracle 8 client
directory.

Subject: [SA-list] Oracle Check Problem

All,

I'm having a problem with oracle checks at the moment.

I have been forced to move servers alive to a new server.
the new server is running some oracle software and has the version 9i
server software on it.
I installed servers alive and also the oracle 8i client software as i need
to be able to monitor version 7 databases as well.

Basically, when i do a check against a version 7 database i get and error
stating that connections to version 7 database are no longer supported.
This is because servers alive is using the Oracle 9 software which doesn't
support connections to v7. In the past when this problem has occurred i
have installed the 8i client and all has been well, but this isn't working
this time.

I cannot remove the version 9 software as we are running a live database
from it, and i need to be able to monitor v7 databases.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Chris
