That's comparable to ours if you're looking for a benchmark. We have 610 checks, including a significant proportion around our European WAN, with an average check cycle of just over 1 minute.

Are you running VNC on the SA server? (Suggest you don't as it has a dramatic effect on performance.) Is your SA GUI set to update the interface during the check cycle in Setup - General - Interface Settings? (Again, strongly suggest you don't as this will *hugely* impact speed - turning this off took our check cycle down from about 8 mins to about 1.) Could an option be added to recreate the page if a check on it changes? Our check cycle takes 10 mins or so and we have a custom web page showing what it up and down. That page can therefore be 10 mins out of date.
