Hello Roy.

The message NO DOS tells you that there is "no DOS" on the disk, so you canĀ“t 
boot. If you have a DOS booted, the next possible message can be "NO DISK" also 
if there is a disk in the slot. In this case try to switch them out and in 
again 
or try to press them a bit higher or deeper in the diskdrive, but carefully. 
This helps mostly.
The question about a dead disk drive you can answer yourself if you take a look 
what the diskdrive does if you press F9. Does it start to run? Can you hear 
that 
the disk is moving round? Goes the red light of the drive on and out?
If not you`re in a bad situation because original diskdrives are as seldom as 
the SAM itself to buy.
