For some new applications we are doing sequencing where many samples are
multiplexed in the same library.
I'm wondering if there is a de facto standard for how to represent
multiplexed samples in a SAM file.

According to the specification SM or @RG should "use pool name where a
pool is being sequenced".
Is LB of @RG assumed to be a globally unique identifier (or unique
within the SAM file) to indicate that the different samples are from the
same library?
Do most of the popular tools interpret these headers in a uniform way?

Thanks,
-Bob
