I was able to get Apache + Passenger + Rails running on Slicehost over the
course of a couple hours at Startup Weekend. It took a bit of hassling and
digging around Google to figure out how to fix a few errors I was running
into.

Regardless of which host you go with, I recommend taking a look at the
articles section on Slicehost (http://articles.slicehost.com/sitemap) as
they have excellent guides to walk through configuring your server and
popular web frameworks like Rails, Django, etc. These helped get me through
the Passenger installation along with a bit of help from Rob.
