Do you want to implement somehow a way to show dates with a calendar which is
not the usual one (Gregorian I think it is)?
Well, that may be tough, are there other software that support such
calendars? Anyway such change would probably requires many changes. Such work
would have to be made on a branch, or submitted by patches.
About prob1, every variables used in functions in utils.php have access to
these. Apart from that, you should check in the code, I cannot tell without
reading it.
