That is weird, I have personally never experienced this.

This package does not have any additional dependencies compared to
Airtime, so I am unsure why just installing it would make the difference.

Is it perhaps that you installed Precise but did not update it for bug
fixes before attempting to install Airtime? If so, you may have run into
this bug:

apt-cache show libapache2-mod-php5 should show version 5.3.10-1ubuntu3
not 5.3.10-1ubuntu2.

If we can track down the actual cause of the bug, I would be more than
happy to change the installer.
