Dear Friends,

I am happy to announce that Kdenlive 0.7 svn (kdenlive.org) free
software video editor supports dirac encoding and decoding. Kdenlive is
based on MLT, wich queries ffmpeg.

Therefore, when ffmpeg is compiled with the proper libraries, Kdenlive
supports Dirac encoding and decoding. IMHO full support of Dirac could
be very usefull.

Feel free to fetch kdenlive from our SVN and MLT and compile for testing
purpose. Questions:

1) Do you think ffmpeg is reliable as for Dirac support?

2) I hope it is a good choice. Also, we added FLAC sound, as it is non
destructive. Any other proposal as for sound support?

3) In Kdenlive, Dirac is available in Render dialog under the "losless
codec" option. We export to drc container.

Do you think Dirac + Flac in a DRC container is a good choice?
What container do you recommand?

Any comments are welcome.
Anyone is free to join the Kdenlive community to help us.

Kind regards,
Jean-Michel
