The raw dirac stream format (.drc as you say) does not support
any form of muxing.  For a video editor, i suggest that you use
the quicktime .mov file format (parts of this became isom/mp4)

the .mov format is reasonably well defined, has the concept of
dealing with multiple tracks, which can be of different formats,
different rates, all of which can be positioned onto a timeline.
Even better, the tracks actually support finding their data in
an external location -- so every time you do an edit, you don't
have to copy many gigabytes of data around.  Eventually, when
you want to 'publish' your work, it is normal to build up a
single .mov file which has the required video and audio in it
for easy distribution.
