What you describe is annoying, and I made some tries and don't get any 
error. Did you try to 'reset filter' before issuing a search ?
When the bug is met, it would be also interesting to simply close/open 
the base, and not close / start Scid, just to see what happens.
Also do you get this bug after having updated some games in a base, or 
simply opening the base and performing the search ?

What do you mean by "failed" ?

Personaly I have no clue, as it would be necessary to have a method to 
reproduce it.
