I was plesantly surprised by the Highlander anime. It reminded me of 
Fist of the North Star in some ways.

I've seen the first few episodes of Desert Punk and I'm on the fence. 
The tone is very goofy and over the top at times but I've been told 
that it shifts dramatically about half way through the series.
