I'm from Fort Worth. I can do heat. It's 112 in the summers in August there.
Cold weather is my bane.

San Francisco is usually cool until August/Sept./Oct The rest of the bay is
usually very nice April - November.

April is nice down in the LA area. Its not too hot yet if you're not used to
the heat.

thanks. I have a friend who went in January a couple of years ago and loved it.
I've only been to San Fran in California, but figure March or April might be
too cool for me, so sunny San Diego came up as an idea. I have a free plane
ticket I need to use.

San Diego is beautiful and warm. Too nice for rednecks, but they all commute
down from Simi Valley. (Where Rodney King got beat up.) Nice beaches too. It is
about an hour from LA which is where everything is really going on. (its loaded
with so many things to do) Stay away from Tijuana. They still have the drug war
going on.

If you are still in the planning phase check the almanac for how the weather
will be around the time you are planning on going.

Typical of San Diego. I am not at all surprised.

A racist-themed party organized by UCSD students over the weekend has created
an uproar that's gone beyond the university's small African-American community.

Invitations to the event, sent out through the social networking site,
Facebook, encouraged female attendees to dress as "ghetto chicks,"
characterized by gold teeth, cheap clothes, "nappy" hair and a "very limited
vocabulary" Male party-goers were required to wear urban clothing and other
accessories stereotypically attributed to Black urban culture. Watermelon and
fried chicken were served as refreshments. Most egregious is that the students
used this event to mock Black History Month.
