I was not quite sure about the planned workload but it does seem pretty
little. I think David was referring to stochastic diagonal 
Levenberg-Marquart
and maybe we should just include that into the "must have" list.

Also I agree that the current SGD is probably not very helpful for this,
but I guess it could serve as a reference point since it is very well tested
and designed by now.

Also +10 on the testing comment. This is way tricky for MLPs ;)

Just noticed that you are both called David. That will be confusing.
