Considering Hans' opinion it looks that using keywords -- keywords9 for tex folding is somehow not well approved. So I am back to the initial idea: can we break the limit 8 of maximal keywordset defined in Scintilla.h, say, setting #define KEYWORDSET_MAX 16 or something?
Since there is no way to bound the number of keyword lists you should make this dynamic by counting the entries in the lexer's wordListDescriptions field but retaining the current limit for lexers that do not set any word list descriptions.
