Chambers' Concise Scottish Dictionary agrees with you:
willie-waught
... from the wrong division of the words in Burns' Auld Lang Syne; see
guidwillie (GUID) and WAUCHT.
Would be nice if 'Guidwillie' could be applied to a US president.
