Thanks Lawrence. I think your right, although it has
stopped the problem for my new disk as well as an
older disk that started having that problem under any
sort of use be it heavy or light io. If the disk is
getting progressivly worse then i would start tgz'ing
your important stuff somewhere safe and look for a
replacement fast, if you get a disk the same size then
you can just dd the first disk onto the second disk.
Hope that helped. You may wish to try the kernel thing
just in case, you never know it may provide some life
support.
