I got all excited for a moment , until i found that my exchange is still not
Surftime enabled ( any idea why an exchange has to be enabled? ).

Things here are pretty grim at the moment connection wise. I've had Home
Highway doing tests for the last three weeks to see if it'll reach this far (
4 miles from the exchange , 50/50 according to the engineer ). In the
meantime i've had to have a second line installed , which because its a
single line all the way to the house meant there was no choice but to have
the dreaded DAX box fitted , which has lowered my modem speeds even further (
can reach 28.8 on a good day ).

Don't even mention Satellite Modems , BT refuse point blank to contact me
about it even though its available in my area. You'd think considering its BT
they'd have a contact number , but oh-no you can only contact them via the
website - which they refuse to reply to.

It reached rock bottom on Tuesday when the BT line went down alltogether for
24hrs ( something to do with the ISDN line tests ) and i had to spend 24hrs
connected to work using my mobile at 35p a minute ( thats just a tad over
500 , although probably a bit less when you take into account off-peak
rates).
