any other theory anyone???

I think a lot of it's just marketing. They had pretty good marketing when
Diary came out. They went on MTV, MTV played the seven video, some radio
stations would play seven. So that got them a good start.

But they never had the big push later. No media hyped HIFTBSO as the next
big thing. Even if they ever had much of an opportunity at a mainstream
marketing push, who knows if they would've wanted to go through with it.

Some bands have terrific marketing. They manage to keep an independent and
aloof image while at the same time posing for magazine covers, doing MTV
interviews, etc. Some fans cringe when their band gets hyped by media
monsters, but the bands love it and the end result can be a longer lifespan
for the band.

So maybe it's too bad that SDRE never had that hype. Maybe it isn't though,
maybe the end result would've been the same. Who knows, right?
