 ah . giggle ..

Just trying to drum up the NZ scene at them moment

I suppose ' I am recognizing that the minimal approach is the most
likely way to establish an audience to support a regular techno scene
again. Given that the presence of Techno on your average night out
has been very limited in my hemisphere.

Reports are floating in via Melbourne Japan about successful events
featuring minimal styles .. with new punters expressing excitement and
interest in the sound vibes.

Totally jealous of the northern hemispheres rotation of festival and events
that are strongly minimal focused.

.. but there is always that sketchy balance between actually having a
music driven scene before it devolves and becomes just a generically
styled scene with genre of minimal become a banner for all manner of
blah .. (i.e house musics)

In listening to Claude's mix ..it is a significant delve into minimal sounds.

.. and not that this begins to define a direction for all Techno .. but it
does lend some weight to the broader influence of minimal as a style
that could transport the Techno ethos to a fresh audience.

While the minimal aspect has always been contained in Techno sound,
I recognize minimal as part of the maturing of the Techno providers.

i.e. keep the groove ' but less banging .. all the elements, lower bpm

I struggle to see an immediate return to the hard banging driven force
of Techno in my areas, and would hope to see minimal as a style that
could pollinate a electronically immersed scene again.

hmmm . yea. mm . yea . uh huh

Good music is good music tho, regardless of how fast the beats are. I'm
a big fan of both mnml and the hard stuff - really depends on the
mood and what you are going out looking for. As for the media, well -
it's only Mixmag that hung it's hat on the mnml coat peg so I wouldn't
really worry about it that much...

Anyone seen him on this tour or lately?

From what I understand he plays modern minimal techno off a laptop but I've
not seen him play before. Maybe with the release of his old problemz era work
he will delve into that 80s postdisco sound he is so well known for. But
honestly, that sound is caned to death here in SF and I would prefer to hear

not seen him play before. Maybe with the release of his old
problemz era work
he will delve into that 80s postdisco sound he is so well known
for. But
honestly, that sound is caned to death here in SF and I would
prefer to hear
his take on newer dance sounds. thanks

I'm not sure if that's the right way to react. Playing Devil's

playing black music. I don't know the guy so maybe I'm giving him too
much credit.

Without a direct quote or some explanation of what he means by that or why
I wouldn't write him off.
It could mean just as Matt says below - but damn, that's a loaded
statement. I hope there comes some explanation soonish.
Eamonn - did he ever explain that statement to you?

Then is meant to imply an if/then conditional statement. If he didn't
mean it like it sounded, then whatever (to present it's opposite). But
in 2006 there aren't too many ways you can mean that.

I know it's the wrong thread and all, but I rarely get my hands set to
type so...that analord mix has been on repeat for a day and a half now.
And I'm loving some of the ones I passed on big time! Thanks senor
kowalski!
