[AI] Regarding mails having subject line of most urgent, urgently and likewise

2014-08-25 Thread Sandeep Gautam
Hello friends,

This is my humble suggestion to all those friends who use words like "most
urgent", very urgent" and likewise words in their mails' subject line.

This subject line attracts to read the mail. And many time, one got nothing
relevant to him after reading long thread of mails.

If someone wants to put the aforesaid words like "most urgent" etc. in their
subject lines, these words should follow the actual subject matter of the mail
in the subject line itself.

This is my humble suggestion only. Friends, if you think it is right, it can
save lot of time of others.

Re: [AI] Installation of Jaws Scriptfor Skype Failed

2014-08-25 Thread Hozefa Tambawala
As I have stated earlier, starting from JAWS 15 the support for Skype
application is already included in the JAWS setup itself. So there is
no necessity to install any additional scripts. You can go through
this podcast for more information.

[AI] Final Reminder - Talking ATM usage survey form

2014-08-25 Thread Prashant Naik
Dear All,

Thanks to all those who have participated in this talking ATM usage survey
started on 1st August 2014. Although we got 90+ responses with few YES and
NO but not yet reached even 100. This survey is available till this month
end. So a humble request to all to response.

Till date survey data shows that there is a low utilization of talking ATM
machines although it has increased in the past few months but still we are
way behind good usage of talking ATM machines by blind individuals.

We should stand together as active & independent customers for these banks
that have deployed solution as talking ATM for blind & increase the usage.
Our first responsibility is to spread awareness about talking ATM
accessible solution amongst our blind community & start availing these
services whenever/wherever possible.

We truly understand the concern of having talking ATM machine in the nearby
area but also noticed that people are not using facility like talking ATM
locator provided by www.talkingatmindia.org and saying there is no ATM
nearby. Also not read manual or listen to audio demo to understand how it
functions.

We hope due to the strict directives & guidelines set by RBI & IBA more
nationalized & private banks may have started taking the positive step
towards accessible banking by providing these services but friends as end
user of talking ATM it is us, who should use it regularly & make it a big
success. Maximum utilization of all these services will make positive
impact on banks & they may come up with more & more accessible services and
talking ATMs in future.

Please visit and register your usage or non usage of talking ATM and
comments if any,

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1f1g2lSl2ocxCEj_Wpxav6ayVqFkzIzr6gWxS2xPGAnA/viewform?usp=send_form

You will find below listed fields on the survey form.

YOU NAME:

YOUR MOBILE NUMBER:

YOUR EMAIL:

HAVE YOU USED TALKING A T M FOR BLIND: YES / NO

HOW MANY TIMES TILL DATE HAVE YOU USED TAKING ATM:

ANY COMMENT YOU WISH TO GIVE ON TALKING ATM:

Also find link for this survey form on http://talkingatmindia.org/ website
home page.

Please forward this survey form to your contacts and friends.

Thank you,

Prashant Naik

By multy function, are you referring to 3-in-1 or 4-in-1 that offers
printing, photocoppying and faxing functionalities along with
scanning? What could be a good such device from Canon or Brother that
supports scanning legal size books that come under rs. 15000 range?
Thanks,

Re: [AI] can I install windows with out having DVD wrider? if so, how!

2014-08-25 Thread Keshav Kumar
I am habitual of installing windows while the windows is running. I am sure
that the installer copies, all the required files/folders, needed for
installation on c drive in 2 folders and then, restarts the system to
continue setup. my windows installation with dumped installer has never
failled in last 10 to 12 years. only once, I was forced to install, using a
pen drive and in that case too, nothing went wrong with my installation!

regards,
Keshav.

Yes directly clicking on Setup.exe will start the OS installation, but
it will require the installation media once the windows get shut down
to copy new files on the hard drive.

As per my knowledge, while booting from CD / DVD / pen drive, we
cannot see the files present on the media. We can only choose the
option from the list.

if your windows is working on the PC, you can dump windows installer on D or

all the ex-blind students and staff of the school.
It is also very essential to form sub-committees to collect the data
of the blind students or their families to make the programme
successful. Your suggestions are highly appreciated.
The tentative date of the function is 1st May, 2015 at Nasik.
Hence, I kindly request you to contact me via sms / email / call, Skype etc.
Contact details are given at the end of the mail. Please call me from
3 pm to 10 pm. Please spread the news to the maximum blind persons.
Regards.

Re: [AI] can I install windows with out having DVD wrider? if so, how!

2014-08-25 Thread Hozefa Tambawala
You can install windows by using pen drive. But first you need to make
the pen drive bootable and then taking windows installation files on
it. To make this to happen, you need to use "Win Setup From USB"
application. This program will first copy all the necessary files and
then the windows installation files on the pen drive. The application
is free to use and is JAWS accessible. Note: Normal copying windows
installation files on the pen drive doesn't work. Here is the download

I am particularly looking at videos under five minutes and showcasing

Eagerly awaiting responses to my request.

Brother scanner can scan legal size paper. It can also scan a3 paper.
For that one need to fold the paper into half and have to place in the

[AI] Bangalore: Blind man can't guide another, really?

2014-08-25 Thread avinash shahi
http://www.deccanherald.com/content/427407/blind-man-can039t-guide-another.html
Eye-opener of a walk

It was an event to open the eyes of fellow citizens to the daily
struggle of those who have to navigate without a vision. And, what a
way it was to make them meander around blindfolded.

The Bangalore Blind Walk, organised by Project Vision, perhaps went on
to disprove the parable ‘a blind man cannot guide another.’

Hundreds took part in the walk that started at the MG Road Metro
station and culminated at the Bal Bhavan on the Cubbon Park premises.

The volunteers and the blind persons were divided into groups. Each
group was led by a blind person and followed buy five to seven
blindfolded persons and a volunteer to instruct them on what to watch
out for.

The walk coincided with the National Eye Donation Fortnight. The aim,
say the organisers, is to create awareness about eye donation besides
sensitising the public about the daily woes of the visually impaired,
who can sense the obstacles only by means of a touch or the white
cane.

While the ones who were blindfolded were scared to put their step
forward, the ones without were completely confident and led others.

Kushal (name changed), 15, who is blind by birth and is associated
with the Karnataka Welfare Association for the Blind, led a group of
seven blindfolded persons. He said, “We walk like this every day, but
my blindness is no roadblock for my vision in life. I want to work as
a news reader in a TV channel,” he said.

Megha, Prateek, Sahathi and Pawan, all students in an engineering
college in Electronics City, had come to participate after their
professor encouraged them to do so. They said, “It is amazing to know
how the ones without eyes walk every day on the roads, while we are
needing instruction at every step.”

As 200-250 people walked on the pavements alongside the Namma Metro
Station, the commuters and onlookers were completely in awe. Many of
them instantly volunteered to walk blindfolded.

Says Father George Kannanthanam, director of Project Vision, “One
third of the world’s blind persons are in our country. Yet, when it
comes to eye donation, the numbers are miniscule.”

Awareness is also being created as to how the ‘104’ helpline (‘Arogya
Vani’) can be utilised for eye donation. Anyone from anywhere in the
State can call the number for eye donation and get assistance in
contacting the nearest eye bank.

Prasanna Kumar Pincha, Chief Disability Commissioner of India, flagged
off the Blind Walk. Organisations such as Karnataka Welfare
Association for the Blind, Bangalore Malayali Catholic Association and
Ramana Maharshi Blind Academy participated.
