Hello. Sorry for replying here, cause I'm not an android users. Any
 ways,
 to
type by touching, just keep your finger in any letter, and after that
search your suitable letter by just sliding to the cardinal direction
without lifting your finger until talkback doesn't say your desire
 letter.
Once you found your desire letter, just lift your finger, and your
 letter
will be typed. If you are trying to type sudeshna, just keep your finger
 to
any letter say you've keep your finger in to "j". just scrole your
 finger
 to
the first letter which is "s" by sliding your finger to left side
 without
lifting, when talkback anounce "s", just lift your finger, and your
 letter
will be type. After that, keep your finger to same letter which is "s"
 and
slide your finger to the up right side until talkback says "u", if you
 found
your letter which is "u", just lift your finger, now su will be typed.
 You
have to perform your whole name like that.

Subject: [AI] Need assistance in typing on Android device

 Dear List Members,
I need assistance to configure my Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo Duos so that I
can easily key in using the on screen keyboard. in the present
scenario, the problem I'm facing is that whenever I touch any key
it's getting typed and I found it quite difficult to type the correct
letter/ digit in the first attempt without listening to it before,
because here I cannot count the position of a particular key and
memorise the same as it was in the case of physical keyboard.
I read about the 'Simpleye' app but as I don't know braille at all,
it'll not be a good choice for me, I think.
hence my query is: is there any app that makes a touch on a key read
that key and a single or double tap or tap with multiple finger types
it. if not, how can I solve my problem? any idea?
I need assistance or support from the experts in this regard urgently.

Hello Raaju,

I read a lot in notepad. I always write xxx where I leave it. I also put in
yyy zzz or === as place markers. This is a clumsy process, but it works
nicely. Otherwise, you have always the option to copy it on to a word

[AI] Quikr Collaborates with Blind Relief Association to Empower the Blind

2014-10-09 Thread Vishnu Ramchandani
MUMBAI: Quikr, India's number one online classifieds company and Blind Relief
Association, Delhi (BRAD), a premier NGO serving in the field of education and
training of the blind, today announced a long term collaboration to support the
visually impaired people by offering them training opportunities with Quikr.

According to the agreement signed on the World Sight Day, the selected
trainee-agents will contribute to the company's day to day operations.

The 10 visually impaired trainee-agents inducted will perform assigned tasks
for Quikr. They will be trained to verify ad listings posted by the customers
on Quikr, to ensure that the data and information listed is confirmed and
accurate.  The Quikr team is working very closely with the Blind Relief
Association team to ensure that they are well trained and equipped to
understand this rapidly evolving category and can add value in ensuring a high
quality of listings on the site.

Commenting on this initiative, Founder and CEO of Quikr Pranay Chulet said,
"Quikr is honoured to enter into this alliance with the Blind Relief
Association of Delhi. We recognise that there is a prevalent notion that
blindness and vision impairment rob people of their self reliance, and on the
occasion of World Sight Day, we seek to change that mindset by bringing out the
potential of these individuals. With the correct training, we will provide them
with job opportunities which will build their confidence by working with a fast
growing internet company."

Talking about the partnership, Hony Executive Secretary of Blind Relief
Association Kailash Chandra Pande, said, "It is a privilege for us to be
associated with a company like Quikr which is such a powerful brand in the
online space. With this opportunity, we are providing these individuals with
quality training and work experience which will hone their capabilities. This
is a great way to give these youngsters the confidence and skills required to
navigate in the workforce."

Re: [AI] celebrate World White Cane day with clean India

2014-10-09 Thread avinash shahi
"Some straight questions. What are we going to clean, who is going to
clean and what is our concept of cleanliness? Will this campaign
address the most important, most basic and most neglected question of
modernisation of our sanitation system? Whose India are we aiming at
cleaning up? In India, cleanliness can't be just about Bollywood actor
Aamir Khan preaching that we do not throw banana peels by the street
or piss on walls nor about PMs, CMs, all manner of ministers and
bureaucrats and politicians picking up brooms to clean streets and
public toilets and public places that have already been thoroughly
cleaned up for them to perform their sham.
What an irony! India is not clean because we don't want cleaners to
live with dignity and equality. We want the 'cleaners' to experience
'the spiritual experience' of cleaning shit!"

[AI] UPSC asked to withdraw "discriminatory proforma"

2014-10-09 Thread Radha
The Hindu, 7 Oct 2014

The Court of Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disability has directed
the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to withdraw its "discriminatory
performa". It has directed the UPSC to refrain from asking
differently-abled people to submit photographs showing their disabilities
and to consider the 'permanent disability certificate' issued from a
government hospital as a valid proof.

The action comes following an intervention by Satendra Singh, who has been
working in the area of disability rights and had written to the UPSC
against "its discriminatory policies".

"Despite having a valid disability certificate, the UPSC asks all
applicants to use their own format for disability certificate. This is
against the existing guidelines but nobody challenged the UPSC. Moreover,
the format asks applicants to paste 'photo showing disability', which is
not only discriminatory but also infringement of right to privacy. An
example - how can an amputee female attach her photograph?'' asked Dr.
Singh.

He added that in a follow-up to his complaint, he also quoted the Amended
Persons with Disabilities Rules 2009, which were circulated to all the
Ministries/Departments (Rules 3 to 6 of Chapter II relating to Disability
Certificate as per Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment's notification
in November 2013.

"The amended rules show the format to be used for disability certificate
and none of them asks 'to showcase disability'," said the physician.

He further pointed out that Rule 6 of the same order clearly states that a
certificate issued under Rule 4 is to be generally valid for all purpose.
"When a person already has a valid government certificate of permanent
disability why does he have to get his disability certificate again in the
prescribed form of the UPSC?'' questioned Dr. Singh.

Re: [AI] How to retrieve mistakenly closed internet page?

2014-10-09 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi.
In most web browsers, you can view your browsing history, the most
recent being at the top. This means, that the last webpage you closed
is part of the recent history and you can simply press Enter on it to
load that webpage.
In Firefox 32 there is a History menu where such options are present.
Hope that helps

Hello. Sorry for replying here, cause I'm not an android users. Any
ways, to

type by touching, just keep your finger in any letter, and after that
search your suitable letter by just sliding to the cardinal direction
without lifting your finger until talkback doesn't say your desire
letter.
Once you found your desire letter, just lift your finger, and your
letter
will be typed. If you are trying to type sudeshna, just keep your
finger to
any letter say you've keep your finger in to "j". just scrole your
finger to
the first letter which is "s" by sliding your finger to left side
without
lifting, when talkback anounce "s", just lift your finger, and your
letter
will be type. After that, keep your finger to same letter which is "s"
and
slide your finger to the up right side until talkback says "u", if you
found
your letter which is "u", just lift your finger, now su will be typed.
You

have to perform your whole name like that.

it's getting typed and I found it quite difficult to type the correct
letter/ digit in the first attempt without listening to it before,
because here I cannot count the position of a particular key and
memorise the same as it was in the case of physical keyboard.

[AI] celebrate World White Cane day with clean India

2014-10-09 Thread nidhi goyal
Dear all,

Greetings from Mumbai.

On the occasion of World White Cane day (October 15), let us display the
celebration of blindness through our vision. we have decided to come
together and join in the goal of "Clean India" by cleaning parts of Mumbai
on Sunday October 19, 2014, at 8 am, venue yet to be decided.

Each blind individual who agrees to participate will be provided with a
sighted escort to aid them in the cleaning process. it is our chance to
give back to the society and claim our equality by shouldering the
responsibility of an Indian citizen!

If you think it is worth it to get your hands dirty to make this country
clean, do drop us a line at shivrah...@gmail.com or
nidhigoyal...@gmail.com; or simply dial +91 9819409860 to register with my
co-organiser Mr Shivkumar Rahejaby October 15, 2014.

This effort is independent of any organisation(NGO or political party) and
we would urge our blind and sighted friends, acquaintences, and fellow list
members to be a part of our first step in creating a clean tomorrow.

Regards,

Nidhi Goyal and Shivkumar Raheja

If you are trying to type sudeshna, just keep your finger
to
any letter say you've keep your finger in to "j". just scrole your

the first letter which is "s" by sliding your finger to left side

letter

Skype is a messenger which allows you to make free calls skype to skype all
over the globe and instant texting. if you are using jaws 15, then by
default skype is accessible. what you need to do is that once you install
the skype, you should create your skype acount and login with it. after
login, pres alt+v to get view menu and navigate up until you get compact
view and press enter. note: this setting is to ease to get multiple
conversations in its own window. means when multiple persons send message
on skype, it will be opened in separate window. if you are intended to use
skype for most voice calls, jaws 15 is more than enough. or if you wish to
use skype for texting much, then you will need to use jaws scripts
exclusively written for skype by third party. to get latest jaws scripts for

[AI] How to retrieve mistakenly closed internet page?

2014-10-09 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafel
Hey folks, sometime working on internet, we close some opened internet
page by mistake. Is there a way to retrieve to recover this page? I am
asking this because sometime we reach to particular page after
entering through various links and links, if this page is closed
mistakenly, we have to incur the same labour again. Please guide.

Once you found your desire letter, just lift your finger, and your

just scrole your finger to the first letter which is "s" by sliding

Subject: [AI] Need assistance in typing on Android device

 Dear List Members,
I need assistance to configure my Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo Duos so
that I can easily key in using the on screen keyboard. in the
present scenario, the problem I'm facing is that whenever I touch
any key it's getting typed and I found it quite difficult to type
the correct letter/ digit in the first attempt without listening to
it before, because here I cannot count the position of a particular
key and memorise the same as it was in the case of physical keyboard.
I read about the 'Simpleye' app but as I don't know braille at all,
it'll not be a good choice for me, I think.
hence my query is: is there any app that makes a touch on a key
read that key and a single or double tap or tap with multiple
finger types it. if not, how can I solve my problem? any idea?
I need assistance or support from the experts in this regard urgently.

 thanks and regards,

[AI] Para athletes criticise delay in naming contingent

2014-10-09 Thread avinash shahi
Is Any blind athalete going there?

http://indianexpress.com/article/cities/delhi/para-athletes-criticise-delay-in-naming-contingent/

The Federation of Disabled Rights (FDR) has criticised the sports
ministry, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Paralympic
Committee of India (PCI) for the delay in the announcement of Indian
delegation for the Para Asian Games which is scheduled to start in
Incheon from October 16.

FDR's general secretary Pradeep Raj alleged bunglings in selection
process and also said that the delay will only hurt the para-athletes.

"It is a fact that we don't get the support that disabled athletes
from around the world get. But this delay makes it all the more
difficult for the athletes as the uncertainty of not knowing whether
they will go will hurt their chances," Raj said, flanked by the
president of the Rastriya Viklang Party chief KK Dixit.

"The delay means they will ensure that name of their relatives will be
their as escorts for the disabled sportspersons," he added.

Talking specifically about the selection issues, Raj said how Vijay
Kumar, who had finished first after the trials conducted under aegis
of TTFI, failed to make the cut. "The player who has been selected
over Vijay is not even in the top four now," said Swarna Raj, who is
part of the the 13-member delegation.

"Camp is currently on at the I G Stadium. The coach does not even
bother to help us. We have been given a table and left on our own. Now
when the Games are here, the same coach is ready to take the flight to
the Games. These are the things that needs to be stopped. We don't get
our escorts, some unknown person is assigned to us as one, who we only
see at the airports... do you think this is fair," she added.

Re: [AI] Six per cent job reservation for disabled in Chhattisgarh

2014-10-09 Thread avinash shahi
Why not. If I'm not wrong TN had reservations for OBC way back prior
to Mandal's Recommendations. And afterall, Disability falls under
state subject.

Chief Minister Raman Singh has announced that disabled persons will be
given six per cent reservation in government jobs as per rules.

The State Government will issue notification in this regard by the end
of this month, he informed. The announcement has come after a
delegation of speech and hearing impaired children called on the Chief
Minister on Sunday evening at his residence here.

Out of the six per cent reservation for disabled persons, two per cent
reservation is for visually impaired, two per cent for
bone-interrupted and another two per cent for speech and hearing
impaired.

The Chief Minister said that interpreters will be appointed in the
major hospitals of the State to convey the instructions in sign
language to speech and hearing impaired persons.

Singh said that the government is committed to development of all
disabled people. 'Special schemes would be chalked out for betterment
of disabled persons.

[AI] FYI: Cable TV and DTH subscribers will have the option of switching operators

2014-10-09 Thread avinash shahi
In Access India Convention held in the Feb We were shown/heard Talking TV PPT.
And what has developed since then in India? it is good opportunity to
talk to the relevant ministry and the Set-of-Box manufacturers to come
with accessible features. Interested NGOs/individuals can take this
opportunity seriously. and undoubtedly there is a huge market.

Smooth cable switch
OUR CORRESPONDENT
New Delhi, Oct. 8: Cable TV and DTH subscribers will have the option
of switching operators without having to change their set-top boxes.

Information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar announced the
plan today, citing the example of portability in cellphones under
which customers change service-providers but not their numbers.

Javadekar said the Centre was working towards a system under which TV
subscribers too would be able to change operators by merely inserting
a new card instead of having to buy a new set-top box.

"Like the portability of the mobile phone (number), viewers should
have options with set-top boxes. They should be able to put in any
card (of the service provider) of their choice into the box," the
minister said after chairing a meeting of a task force on cable TV
digitisation.

The Centre recently asked regulator Trai to explore how set-top box
"inter-operability" could be made possible.

"Inter-operability will give the customer flexibility to change the
operator without having to change the equipment. It will only require
changing a smart card, as in mobile phones," said a ministry official.

At the meeting, Javadekar reviewed the progress of the third and
fourth phases of cable digitisation -- which ensures better picture and
sound quality and more channels -- that will see the change spread to
villages from the big cities covered in the first two stages.

The task force will suggest ways to bring in set-top box
inter-operability and price them affordably.

The Centre has urged domestic manufacturers to produce such boxes at
competitive rates, with the telecom ministry formally declaring the
devices "network equipment". Javadekar said the tag would offer local
manufacturers a level-playing field with foreign makers.

For the first two phases of digitisation, the set-top boxes were
mostly imported, with duty rates lowered to make them affordable.

[AI] FYI: DDA extends housing scheme deadline

2014-10-09 Thread avinash shahi
Anticipating a last-minute rush after a tepid response, the Delhi
Development Authority (DDA) has extended its deadline to submit forms
for its largest ever housing scheme till 5pm on October 15.
http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/newdelhi/dda-extends-housing-scheme-deadline/article1-1273156.aspx

The scheme - with 25,034 flats on offer - was launched on September 1
and was to close on October 9. Hindustan Times was the first to
report, on September 29, that DDA was likely to extend the deadline.

The draw of lots is tentatively fixed for November 5, supervised by a
committee headed by a retired high court judge and two IT
professionals, one from IIT-Delhi and the other from the National
Informatics Centre.

The DDA sold 16 lakh applications for the scheme but got back just 3
lakh, partly due to a fortnight-long Shraddh period, considered
'inauspicious', followed by the festive season.

However, DDA officials said the real reason for the subdued response
was a new lock-in clause under which allottees cannot sell their flats
for five years. Also, with very few two and three-bedroom flats on
offer, the middle class seems to have kept away.

The DDA had received some 7.4 lakh applications for a much smaller
housing scheme (16,000 flats) in 2010.

The decision to extend the deadline was taken on Wednesday at a
meeting with representatives of empanelled banks. "They insisted there
was too much last-minute rush and the last date should be extended.
Also, only about three lakh forms have been received so far and people
need more time," DDA vice-chairman Balvinder Kumar told HT.

"The procedure for the draw of lots has been put on our website," he added.

Hello. Sorry for replying here, cause I'm not an android users. Any ways, to
type by touching, just keep your finger in any letter, and after that
search your suitable letter by just sliding to the cardinal direction
without lifting your finger until talkback doesn't say your desire letter.
Once you found your desire letter, just lift your finger, and your letter
will be typed. If you are trying to type sudeshna, just keep your finger to
any letter say you've keep your finger in to "j". just scrole your finger to
the first letter which is "s" by sliding your finger to left side without
lifting, when talkback anounce "s", just lift your finger, and your letter
will be type. After that, keep your finger to same letter which is "s" and
slide your finger to the up right side until talkback says "u", if you found
your letter which is "u", just lift your finger, now su will be typed. You
have to perform your whole name like that.

I read about the 'Simpleye' app but as I don't know braille at all,
it'll not be a good choice for me, I think.
hence my query is: is there any app that makes a touch on a key read
that key and a single or double tap or tap with multiple finger types
it. if not, how can I solve my problem? any idea?
I need assistance or support from the experts in this regard urgently.

thanks and regards,

☺. once the mails are selected for delete/move purposes they might have
been spammed. only keyboard mailing list's mails were noted in this
context. but they were not spammed at my end at least.

that table must be the non uniform table. means cells are merged for inner
columns. to navigate to the respective columns you can try the following
keystrokes:

alt+ctrl+right arrow to move to next column and left arrow for previous.
Alt+ctrl+down arrow to move to next row and up arrow for previous. for
merged cells, just assume that two rows would be used for columns title if
that table contains iner columns. and just navigate down to that merged row
and then try these above told keystrokes to avoid confusion.

Dear all,

I hope that you are all well.

I need some help: I wish to draw a table on MS Word 2010 which first
row is not divided into columns but the following rows would be
divided in two columns.

I am grateful to receive indications of how to do this with Jaws 15.

Thanking you,
