[AI] Urgent information required regarding latest released guidelines of CCPD for scribe.
Dear all, Greetings! Wanted to consult one thing with the knowledgeable members of Access India. Please clear me one thing that, the recent guidelines released by CCPD regarding scribe are state specific or should be obeyed by all the states as they written in the released copy? Or is there any time line given that every state should follow these guidelines within ... time? Please reply to this mail as soon as possible, as it is very urgent because one of my friend is having his exam on 7th of July conducted by HPSSSB in Himachal Pradesh and the officials are asking him to take the writer of below than 12th class, where as in the recent guidelines this criteria has been removed. When he showed the latest guidelines then he was communicated that our state has not yet implimented these guidelines so you have to take the younger scribe as his exam is of graduation level. Please in these circumstances what should he do? Waiting for your immidiate responce. Re: [AI] Need Scribe guide line for S. B. I. P. O. Exam and new G. R. related with that.
Hi friends, I think that as per the guidelines mentioned in the scribe form, it is very much clear that the criteria for the scribe "should be one grade low than the stipulated criteria" has been removed as it is no where mentioned in the guidelines issued by SBI itself. Where ever, in the earlier exams it had been clearly mentioned. Hello every one: Some times, I encounter a strange problem while reading some documents with jaws. Some word documents, though they are written in English, with all English spellings, letters and punctuations, my JAWS reads with french accents. That is it pronounces every letter and word, together or separtely, pronounces in french itself. For example: When I started reading Lajja of Taslima, it reads every thing including its letters and words in French with all French accents. What could be the reason? It looks very strange, and has been happening for quite some time. This is resisting me from reading some of the books. The event pertains to the USA. Anyone interested in India? Col Pradeep Kapoor Blacksburg, VA - Blind people in Virginia are getting the chance to drive, thanks to a special dirt buggy developed by students at the Virginia Tech College of Engineering. The retrofitted four-wheel dirt buggy developed by the Blind Driver Challenge team uses laser range finders, an instant voice command interface and other innovative technologies to guide blind drivers as they steer, brake, and accelerate. "It was great!" said Wes Majerus of Baltimore, the first blind person to drive the buggy on a closed course at the Virginia Tech campus this summer. Majerus is an access technology specialist with the National Federation of the Blind's Jernigan Institute. Mark Riccobono takes a test drive Rather than producing a fully-autonomous vehicle, the team designed the vehicle so that the blind motorist has complete control of the driving process, as any sighted driver would. This approach led to new challenges, including how to effectively convey the high bandwidth of information from the laser sensors scanning the vehicle's surrounding environment to the driver fast enough and accurate enough to allow safe driving. As a result, the team developed non-visual interface technologies, including a vibrating vest for feedback on speed, a click counter steering wheel with audio cues, spoken commands for directional feedback, and a unique tactile map interface that utilizes compressed air to provide information about the road and obstacles surrounding the vehicle. Once the technology is perfected, laws now barring the blind from driving and public perception must be changed, Riccobono said. The team is already planning major changes to the technology, including replacing the dirt buggy vehicle with a fully electric car. The all-electric vehicle would reduce the vibration which can cause problems to the laser sensor, and will provide clean electric power for the computing units. The team will bring the Blind Driver Challenge vehicle to the National Federation of the Blind's Youth Slam summer camp event held July 26 to August 1 in College Park, Md. [AI] Seeing-eye car enables blind people to drive
Hello access Indians, A warm good morning! Hope it would be of your interest. Seeing-eye car enables blind people to drive Wesley Majerus finishes driving the Virginia Tech Blind Driver Challenge vehicle <> A revolutionary car designed by Virginia Tech allows blind people to get behind the steering wheel for the first time. The retrofitted four-wheel dirt buggy uses laser range finders, a voice command interface and a host of other innovative, cutting-edge technologies. For the first time, blind drivers can steer, brake and accelerate without any help from human passengers. Blind ambition Back in 2004, the US National Federation of the Blind challenged university research teams to develop a vehicle that would one day allow the blind to drive. Virginia Tech was the only institution to accept. "I thought it would be a very rewarding project," said Dennis Hong, director of Virginia Tech's Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory. "We are not only excited about the vehicle itself but also about the potential of the many spin-off technologies from this project that can be used for helping the blind in so many ways." Sitting inside the vehicle, a blind driver can turn the steering wheel, stop and accelerate by following data from an on-board computer that uses sensory information from the laser range finder to serve as the 'eyes' of the driver. Front seat drivers The team also developed non-visual interface technologies, including a vibrating vest for feedback on speed, a click counter steering wheel with audio cues, spoken commands for directional feedback, and a unique tactile map interface that uses compressed air to provide information about the road and obstacles surrounding the vehicle. "It was great!" said Wes Majerus, the first blind person to drive the buggy on a closed course at the Virginia Tech campus. "The car's instructions are very precise. You use the technology to act on the environment - the driving course - in a very orderly manner." The Virginia Tech research team is already planning major changes to the technology, including replacing the dirt buggy with a fully electric car, in order to reduce vibrations that can interfere with the laser sensor. However, even once the technology is perfected, laws now barring the blind from driving and public perception must be changed. "This is the piece that will be the most difficult," said Mark Riccobono of the National Federation of the Blind, adding that the car must be near-perfected before his charity can push the car to law-makers and the general public. He said this effort will take millions of dollars in development. http://www.techradar.com/news/world-of-tech/seeing-eye-car-helps-blind-people-to-drive-616674 With best regards, Ranjana. Now, we have to drag the widget and drop it to the side bar. I am not using wordpress 2.8 or any software, I am using their website. Means wordpress.com Now, here is what I am doing to use drag and drop feature of Jaws: 1. Place the jaws curser on the heading/content of the widget which I want to activate. 2. Now, I am pressing ctrl+jaws key+8 to drag the widget. 3. Now, I am going to the heading of side bar. there, first I root jaws to pc, then again pressing the same command to drop the widget. But unfortunately, no luck! Am I using the jaws feature in wrong way? I have never used previously so don't know about it much. Or, its just the accessibility issue? Bloggers, since this is Jaws issue, please help me can't ask on general forums. However, my personal openion for new bloggers is to use blogspot instead of wordpress. I have heard somewhere there is shortcut which can create all our details at the end of every mail which we have already stored. Can any of you tell me how to do that much of things? Of course we can store our information in a file we can coppy and paste it every time. I don't think its good and safe for us. so please let me know how to do these things either in internet ex or outlook ex. She is a post graduate and her scribe was her own mother who did graduation and secured 57%, which, to the best of my knowledge, meets the eligibility criteria for a scribe. Now she is applying for clerical exam in Andhra bank and got clarification from me regarding the rules of scribe. I am pasting her mail below awaiting your guidance. Hello Vamshi, This evening, I went along with my mother to meet the Andhra Bank Chief Manager - Ms.Sarada to take clarity regarding the scribe issue. But, she clearly conveyed that there is absolutely no possibility of using a scribe who has completed her graduation irrespective of the percentage. She infact told that the scribe can only be either a tenth or inter pass and must not have secured more than 60%. I am totally clueless of how to go about it and handle this issue. Kindly request you to help me in this regard. Also request you to support me with the study material for this preparation. Hope I am not troubling you too much. Bye Vamshi, take care.
