hi. I prefer DAISY format meterials allways. the reasons are given below 1. easy to navigate between the contet 2. easy to carry them. 3. no dependency on computers and electric power. 4. easy to read them in ristricted envornment hope this will be considered. Re: [AI] Your feedback is solicited - accessible material
Hello, Agree with Srinivasu and Prashant sir, Editable copies should never be distributed by an organisation like SEBI. HTML (fully compliant with WCAG) should be sufficient. In addition, daisy files with either synthetic or human recorded audio will serve those who preffer an audio version. All of it can easily be given in a CD. Though it is slightely tough yet I would urge that documents like these should be available in all the regional languages of the country. Re: [AI] Your feedback is solicited - accessible material
One should ask for PDF with a caution. Depending upon how the PDF is created it may or may not be accessible. PDF prepared with accessibility guidelines is OK but the details are generally lost when there are several suppliers of files. And PDF inherently has a few limitation, for example a person with low vision cannot modify the colour combination, dyslexic cannot change font etc. EPUB 3 is the new flexible format which should be preferred. UN and other big agencies even offer multiple formats of the same document e.g. PDF for printing, EPUB for reading on the digital devices and sometimes even DAISY. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Srinivasu Chakravarthula Sent: 30 June 2016 16:44 To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerning the disabled. Re: [AI] Your feedback is solicited - accessible material
Hi When we are talking of reaching masses, the most accessible format is text followed by Rich text format (RTF). This would be readable with a larger pool of devices. Daisy too would be a very good option which opens the possibility of easy Braille printing. Although, you have not mentioned language, considering the nature of the initiative, Hindi in Unicode should definitely be considered. Accessible PDFs would be great. I think DAISY and Braille content would also be useful given the diverse nature of users. Subject: [AI] Your feedback is solicited - accessible material Dear all, I would like to have your views with regard to medium of accessible material that can be distributed amongst visually challenged investors when SEBI conducts awareness programmes for them. Please try to reply to the following queries: 1. Whether material available on SEBI Investor Awareness website in PDF format would be sufficient? 2. Whether MP3 format would be preferrable? 3. Whether separate CDs should be created? 4. Whether there would be takers for material in braile ? Your valuable feedback is highly appreciated. You could also write to me directly on vishakha.m...@gmail.com regards, Vishakha More.
