That is the intention of "page anchored". If an object is anchored to "page 2"
it will remain on page 2 and not move to "new" page 3.

This is a feazure called "automatic number recognition". Writers table behaves
like a spreadsheet in this moment.
If this is not desired, open context menu on any table and disable "Number
recognition".
That the number recognition may behave wrongly in some cases (overrides user
made formats) is tracked in some other issues (issue 54397, issue 46076, issue
33749).

> is this reproducible?

Yes, it is. In my case was enough to leave two open spreadsheets for longer
period of time (20 hours or so) and got "Runtime error". Leaving only open .odt
for the same time did not produce error.
Interesting, that after leaving different .doc and .sxc for ~60 hours, i found
the same "Runtime Error", but fonts are different, compared to previous messages
(previuos were using system dialog box, this one was somewhat bigger).

First documents were ~100 pages, ~50KB, latter - 1-4 pages. Autosave is enabled
(but it had chance to autosave more than once during work day - no problems). It
looks like problems with OOo 1.1.x .sxc files.

After several first crashes, i got no recovery/send report option. This time
(accompanied by different style error message) 2 files were recovered and i was
able to sent error report and got confirmation mail. I mentioned this issue No
in description.

"heard of that "search and replace trick". Of course, there are many other
possibilities to get that "text numbers" with "'" to "real numbers" again, for
example you can cut, change cell format to "number" and paste special as
"unformatted text" again..."

I downloaded OOO and was using it. This is a real world scenario, wherein I was
entering my financial details and hit this WONTFIX of ooo.
This occured in 1st hour of my usage of OOO.

There would be many such cases of various people.
Please try to understand that these are genuine problems of real world people -
who are least interested in the documentation or the technical details.

Consider a huge data size. Your cut paste solution wont work in a real world
senario.

Also, I have seen people use excel with minimum size of 5 to 10 MB. OOO guys
cannot consider people to do a cut/paste or anyother workaround.
We need to take MS Office headone to succeed.

What is the bahaviour in latest staroffice?

This weekend I will check the working on the spreadsheet provided by kubuntu.
You can also try it and let us all know how does this particular case work.

I have heard that various comapnies have made MS Office an OS in itself and have
created a strong ecosystem around it. People are selling financial charts and
formulae, legal stuff all based on MS Office.

I hope that you understand what I am trying to explain.

"Now you format the referenced cell as number and the text changes to that. As a
result the vlookup does not solve correctly and you get in trouble."

A simple regexp will help you solve whether to keep - or to be precise -
"consider" the cell contents as text or as numbers.

Forget the "vlookup". Consider this simple case in excel (this simple case would
be applicable to OOO as well -->
In excel 2000 enter 123 in cell A1 and abc in cell A2.
Both of them are general.
Now change the A1 to text and A2 to number and check the cell contents.
Using ' in front of numbers was an old paradigm.

Each cell's datastructure will have a member variable called format. If format =
text, using text rules, if format = number and regexpression shows that its a
number, use the cell as number - else use it as a text - or any other format
that its forced into.

In a OTC, if the Index Heading style has text flow/break page before w/style to
index page style, the page does remain in predefined page style.

P.D. I hope my translation coincide w/OO dialogs

I would find it useful to be able to select cells in a spreadsheet, and divide
the contents into multiple cells using the same dialogue which appears when
opening a .csv file. This would be similar to Excel's Text-to-Columns feature.

While I have read that there are macros which could accomplish this, I would
prefer a built-in feature. Since the functionality is already part of OOo,
there just needs to be a way to use it on data in an open file.

Looks like I didn't search enough to find the problem at first. You are right,
it's the same problem. The problem is still there with 2.0.0 for Linux and for
Windows.

I'm not confident to send the affected files because they content sensitive
data. I can certainly modify some things in the files and send you a tarball if
it's possible those files don't get public.

gnome 2.12 has clipboard management so that if you copy something from an app,
then close the app, it'll still be in the clipboard for you to paste elsewhere.
although this works with plenty of other applications (gedit, evolution, etc),
it does not work with ooo. if you copy something from within ooo, then
close ooo and try to paste it somewhere else, the clipboard will be blank
and there'll be nothing to paste.

I am also having this problem. I use a network printer that is only turned on
when it is in use, and whenever a document is printed to this printer, the next
time that same document is opened, it can take 10 seconds or so if that network
printer (the last printer printed too) is offline. Very irritating for those of
us who always print to a printer that may often be turned off. I think this is
only a problem with network printers (I am using a Postscript driver Lexmark
laser, mapped by TCP/IP, if it makes any diff). Also, I am using OOo 2.0 on
Windows XP.

The printer in question is NOT my system default printer, but it appears the
'last printer printed too' is saved in the OOo document. OOo must be trying to
query that printer for some info--it probably shouldn't do that except at the
time the print command is given. That, or just default back to the system
default printer upon reloading (though that removes the feature of it
remembering the last printer).

I'm working on a Calc spreadsheet with four data series of 65536 points, and
I've made a chart of these on a second sheet. Each time I resize the chart or
move the main body of the chart (causing the data lines to redraw), the chart
takes twenty seconds or more to redraw (on an Opteron 224) and during that time
the entire GNOME interface is frozen. I can't change windows or screens using
the mouse or keyboard, the cursor stays the same, and the focus doesn't change.
Other applications are able to continue in the background (top in a terminal
window keeps updating, xmms keeps playing music).

The spreadsheet can be found at http://biojanus.anu.edu.au/files/sample.odc

The new "nested table" feature in OpenOffice.org 2 does not convert to Microsoft
Word format. Tested on MS Office 2003.

1. New document in OO.o Writer
2. Create two tables 2x2 tables, one nested inside another
3. Save as Word format
4. Open the saved file in Word. Inner table stays, but each cell in outter table
gets converted to paragraphs. See attached documents for details.

Note -- sometimes it is the other way around. Outter table stays, but inner
table disappears.

Also, if nested table is created in MS Office 2003, and the .doc is imported
into OpenOffice.org 2, inner table will be wrapped around a frame object. For
example, instead of

You get something like

Which is not what I expect...

I think we found the problem. The error message is *very* misleading. We
noticed that running ldd on soffice.bin on the failing system was showing
libz.so as not being found. It's found in /usr/lib on the working system.
Adding that file on the faiiling system (via LD_LIBRARY_PATH) got things
working.

Please give a more detailed description next time. It is important that the
problem is described in a comment, and not only in the document so that one can
easily search for issues.

This problem is about writer not supporting multi-paragraph vertical (90°
rotated) text in table cells. It appears all would be in one single line, due to
different concepts.

A workaround is to replace the paragraph breaks by line-breaks or to insert a
text-box (drawing function) into the table cell (anchor as character) and rotate
that whole frame (using position and size dialog).

Right now there is no 2.0.1 in targets, as per message 5878 in [EMAIL
PROTECTED], so I'm settling for 2.0.

Also, I'm unsure about the "align with m134 or with m137" situation, so I'm
providing links for both
versions of translation.

OOo always had the capability to set the margin to the printer's limits. Just
press and it will be set accordingly.

Regarding the "equal" setting: I doubt that this will be useful.
Most of the time you'll have different settings. Furthermore: You can always
create page and document templates that have the most-used settings.

This one might be "ok to have", but "there are bigger fish to catch"...

At our site, we have several Solaris 8 machines sharing the same installed copy
of OOo 2.0. Some of these machines run it just fine, but some only show the
splash screen and abort with

ld.so.1: /aopt/openoffice.org2.0/program/soffice.bin: fatal: relocation error:
file /aopt/openoffice.org2.0/program/soffice.bin: symbol
__1cPSvtStartOptions2t6M_v_: referenced symbol not found
Killed

The symbol in question is defined in libsvl680ss.so, and I can see from truss
that both systems are open()ing mmap()ing this file, so I can't see why the
symbol is not found.

I found a page at http://wwwhome.cs.utwente.nl/~jian/OpenOffice.org which
mentions some patches needed to run OOo, but we have all those patches installed
on both system (though the versions are slightly different). On the working
system, we have:

108434-17, 108773-12, and 108435-17

On the failing system, we have:

108434-14,108773-18, and 108435-14

I've noticed when I copy/paste a multiline text from a text editor into OO, if
the ending character of a line is 'CR' instead of 'CRLF', then only the first
line is pasted.

(Sorry if this bug has already been reported, but I saw there are plenty of
copy/paste pb... then to long to search).

I have written a Writer to DokuWiki macro. It is available from:

As the macro is LGPL anyone is free to modify it for any other wiki engine
format.

Sometime soon I hope to make a MediaWiki version.

Marc,

I am lost here. If I open writer, start the macro recorder and enter text then
stop the recorder I am prompted to save the macro. This macro includes all my
text entry - including fixing typos -.

So if I want some canned phrases for database form entry the recorder can't do
it.

If you can record keystrokes for characters in Writer then why deny the same
capability to Base users.

When trying to add a field by hand in the Table Wizard, the second pane shows
the field name changed and shows the default type instead of the custom-selected
type. To increase confusion, after finally creating the table, the field appears
with the default name 'field' unchanged, but with the proper user-selectred
type.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Connect to an (empty) mysql database using either JDBC ot ODBC. For this
report I use ODBC. (My mysql server is remote, 4.0.22 for Linux, my mysql ODBC
driver is 3.51 for Windows).

2. Start creating a new table using the Table Wizard. Use e.g. FirstName,
LastName and PhoneNumber of the "Employees" sample table.

3. Click "Next" and try to add a new filed using the "+" button:
-- change the name from "field" to "id"
-- change the type into "Integer [integer unsigned auto_increment]"

4. Click "Next" and go to the next pane. Now:

==> bug #1: go back to the previous pane and you will dicover that the type of
the field is again "Text []" (or at least the UI shows it that way!)

-- Now click "Next" again and try to define that filed as a primary key:
-- Click "Use an existing field as a primary key"
-- Open the drop-down menu for the Fieldnames... surprise!

==> bug #2: you see a field named 'field' and not 'id'.

5. After finalizing the table, you will see that the field name is the wrong
'field' (instead of 'id') but the type is correct ("Integer [integer unsigned
auto_increment]") -- the opposite of what the second pane of the Wizard was
showing.

Charts do not work well and they know it. You can see that recently a target of
3.0 was specified. Hopefully in a year or so things will be a lot better.

I build the CWS morejava with jdk 1.5 on Windows. Yes it worked for me.

Should because it is supposed to work, but I didn't try it with OOo versions
newer/equal than SRC680_m136 yet.

In my mind this feature could work in this way.

When the textbox is invisible and has no border the shadow should assigned to
the text.
If the textbox is visible and / or has a border the shadow should assigned to
the textbox itself.

Some tweaking might be required with the approach as its not generally in use
seeing as I don't use it due to the gcc visibility and stl problem, and so may
have gone a little stale. But in the stlport makefile.mk see the SYSTEM_STL
conditional path which causes the contents of the systemstl dir e.g. hashmap to
be copied into the stlport solver where deliver will then put them into the OOo
solver in locations where "#include " will find this copied file, and
that file has then e.g.

e.g. #include

and the namespace foo required to pull the __gnu_cxx bits into the std
namespace.

Please add GSI file for Bosnian language to your builds. The file can be found
at:
http://vljubovic.linux.org.ba/GSI_bs.sdf.bz2
Based on m137, checked with gsicheck (no errors), I'm in process of making an
OOo localized build. The GUI should be about 90% translated, but due to the
way po2oo tool works this file also includes helpcontent which is not
translated. We're in the progress of translating the last 10% and
proofreading, but this might not be in time for OOO 2.0.1

Why? If I want a shadow on the box, I want no shadow to the characters, because
it looks ugly to me. And if I set shadows to the characters, that should not
affect the style of the box.

- load the bugdoc
- it looks like that the parallelogram has an axial gradient filling.
- move the yellow handle to the left side.
- the filling is a rectangular gradient.
- the gradient filling should consider the shape form.
this is also importent for the PPT interoperability

When using

   OOo_2.0.0rc1_050923_Win32Intel_install_de.exe

on

   Windows 98

for importing version 1.x standalone base forms in sxw files by copy & paste the
controls get inserted in a fresh .odb file internal form each on it's own new
form named standard.

To reproduce:
1. open a registered .odb file
2. open a .sxw standalone form working on the same datasource
3. switch the old form in design mode
4. select all controls by mouse or in the form navigator
5. select "copy" from toolbar
6. switch to the new form in the .odb file
7. select "paste" from the toolbar

In the form navigator the hirarchy looks similar to this:

forms
  standard
label1
  standard
textfield1
  standard
label2
  standard
imagecontrol1

and so on, although all controls have been in the one and only form named
"standard" in the source file.

I'm attaching another shot that I think it related to this bug. I created a
table and then moved the column to the left. Note that the snap lines still
appear on the panel and are not updated. There is some kind of weird video
issue for sure on some devices.

Attaching shot.

- start an Impress / Draw and create an textbox
- Write some text into the textbox
- assign a shadow to the textbox (not to the text itself)
- the shadow should be assigned to the text itself.
we also need the feature for the PPT interoperability

That is not a solution in many cases, since it implies making a completelt new
page just for graph preparation.

This has been the feature that prevented me from using OOO 1.X and it has not
been changed in OOO2.0

Same thing with the ability to delete individual series
