I wasn't too worried about the recovery of my document, since it has recovered my documents successfully before. Once the documents were "successfully recovered," I worked some more on one of the documents, which was one that I hadn't saved yet, and saved both and exited the program, not wanting to work anymore. Tonight, though, I opened the documents up, only to find about half of my work missing. The new document had everything from before the crash but none of my work after it, and the other, which had already had a filename, was missing all of my work from today. Of course tried several times, before running taskmgr to find multiple swriter processes. - reopening DOC, found that none of the drawing had been saved. I definitely saved DOC at least once, another backup application I have running in background that saves changes to data documents, indicated 3 intermediate saves, but strangely none had any drawing data saved. I haven't reproduced problem. I cut and pasted the PDF into my DOC in order to recover the image, and I modified it with one drawing element., this saved ok. Trying to input a date in this format will cause the cell to take on the date value 1899-12-30. With the cells displayed in other date formats I've tried (such as US standard "11/30/2000" or long formats like "Tue, October 23, 2001"), I can still input a date in ISO format as usual. Note that I am not talking about issue 5556, I don't particularly care how the date is displayed on the input line. I am talking about putting the cursor over the cell and typing in a whole new date, or selecting all the text in the input line and writing over it with a new date. This is a regression from 3.1.1. I've also tried this on a Windows XP system but it did not affect that setup. Steps to reproduce: 1) Open a new Calc document. 2) Input a date into a cell as an ISO 8601 string, e.g. 2010-02-23. The date should default to display as 02/23/10, at least on en-US installations. 3) Select the cell with the date in it and "Format Cells". Choose the "Date" category and then the ISO 8601 format (displayed as "1999-12-31" in the dialog). 4) Place the bold cell-outline cursor over the cell with the date in it and type a new date as an ISO 8601 string, say 2001-10-30. Alternatively, select the cell with the date in it and then select all text in the input line and type the new date. 5) The cell will now display 1899-12-30. I can't see how the triggering is happening, but whenever I use my scrollwheel in any OO application, I get NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP Xevents generated. On a single-screen system they wouldn't be a problem, as the desktop is already set, but in a multi-screen independent system, the change of desktop affects ALL screens, instead of just the one that OO is on. How to reproduce: - Start a WM that allows you to have separately changable desktops per screen (AwesomeWM in my case). - Desktops are 1-9 on each side, independent. - Place any OO application on the left screen, desktop N (any value). - Change right screen to any desktop other than N. (e.g. OO on left-9, right screen set to desktop 8) - Use scrollwheel in OO app. - OO generates a NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP change, and BOTH left and right change to desktop 9. If you had some other window in right-8 that you were trying to view while working on your OO document, it gets really annoying. As a workaround, if you only have one window/desktop you are viewing for reference, you can set them to the same desktop, but if you want two desktops of reference material, you're out of luck, as this bug keeps occurring. Proposed fixes: 1. Short-term: Provide an option to NOT change desktops, let the WM control dialog placement. Basically just never generate the NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP event. This allows a workaround for users right now, their WM is then responsible for putting the dialog on the desktop associated with OO or where the user would like it. 2. Long-term: The ICCCM spec doesn't appear to provide a way to create a new window on a specific desktop without being on that desktop, so research how to accomplish that, and simply generate the dialog on that desktop in the first place. #2 might upset some users still I think, esp. those with less-capable WMs. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Now looking for SW's API usage since there, the anchor and relative point stuff leads to big problems (as already described). ADded a patch from OD from CWS sw33bf03 (#i108851#) which already corrects some problems in that direction. When I save the document as RTF (is the same mechanism as copying RTF content to clipboard in OOo) and open it with MS Word, it is displayed correctly. Really hard. I was working on a spreadsheet, and tried to add a PNG image by dragging it from explorer into calc. What happened was that all of a sudden Writer opened up, with a new document with some text in it (like %PNG%%% or something). I guessed this method of adding images doesnt work so I closed Writer. It didnt even prompt me for a file safe. Then I found out Calc had closed. Without offering me the chance to save my document. Everything gone, not even a backup. Not sure if this is a UI issue or a plain bug.
