Reproducible with "Ooo-Dev 3.3.0 multilingual version English UI WIN XP:
[DEV330m1 (Build 9514)]"!
Opening sample.csv wich separator "comma" in cell 'W4' of new CALC spreadsheet
text ends with string "systems and to learning through advanced research". When
I copy cell contents to a new WRITER document, I count 466 characters in the 
cell.
Opening sample.csv wich with "Ooo 3.1.1 WIN XP DE[OOO310m19 (Build 9420)]" in
cell 'W4' of new CALC spreadsheet text ends with string "systems and to learning
through advanced research". When I copy cell contents to a new WRITER document,
I count 3220 characters in the cell.

Additionally I see that in 3.3 document only shows 4 rows "ResponseID", "1879",
"1881", "1886", With 3.1.1: ResponseID, 1879, 1881, 1886, 1889, 1892
what might be related, but also that might be a different problem.

you have to mention your csv import settings and an explicit description what
exactly your problem is.

messages ...), EVERY key press and EVERY mouse click how to reproduce the
problem, and explain why you believe that your results are unexpected.

I don't want to do vector graphics with the word processor, I just want to
position and size a frame using the mouse. I mentioned Inkscape because of its
rich set of snapping abilities. A wor processor with frames should allow easy
alignment with page elements, otherwise the layout will never be perfect.
I don't want the text to be aligned with the left border; I want the additional
frame to be aligned with the left border of the main page (which is also a frame
in my view). The assumption is that when using the same formatting for the text,
the text will also align with the text of the main page frame.
If someone with a better desktop publishing program gives you a layout sample,
you try to get as close as possible to it. If we have multiple frames in Writer,
why not use them? Most template somehow "mis-use" features to get the desired
effects. It's not perfect, but it will do.
You are right that I can position frames more precisely by using numeric input,
but aren't you admitting at the same time that positioning with the mouse is
sub-optimal?

I apologize if by "verified" cl and wg mean the defect is still live.

The number of slides per handout still does not match the handout layout on Mac 
OOo 3.2.1 build 9502 on 
OS X 10.6.4.

In Printer Settings > Options, there is no field to set the number of slides 
per page. Furthermore, choosing 
"Default" under "Page options" disregards the handout layout formatting. I get 
6 slides per page no matter 
what I choose. Am I doing something wrong?

We have this issue, too.
Windows XP SP3 x86; OOo 3.2.1; Server is Windows Server 2003 R2.
Opening/Saving shows a delay of 20+ seconds before actually doing the action. 
After that, for about 1 minute, it opens/saves to this share OK, but after this 
time it starts to delay again.
After reading Issue 110878 I installed a webserver on our file server, and it 
instantly solved the problem. After that I removed the webserver and simply 
turned the Windows Firewall off, and the problem didn't appear again. But if I 
turn the firewall on, the problem reappears. I suppose that having a firewall 
rule that wouldn't silently ignore the requests to port 80 but reply error to 
sender would be enough.

Only 60?  I have over 150 users and we have been waiting over a year.  I had to
completely halt the rollout of OpenOffice 3.0 because this problem was too
severe for us.  Waited through 3.0, 3.1, then 3.2.  I am praying it is in 3.3 (I
think it is).  I, too, was hoping there would have at least been a back door fix
or something until the new print system stuff was rolled out.

When a chart is created in Calc, by default the data ranges selected are given
absolute references.  This means that if you duplicate a sheet or copy a chart
to another sheet, the chart remains linked to the original data.  This behavior
can lead to confusion and creates unnecessary extra work when a user desires to
"mass produce" charts from a common template.

The Chart module should offer the ability to easily toggle the data references
between relative and absolute (perhaps using F4 as in calc cells).  Ideally, the
user would also have an option to set which reference type would be used by
default when creating charts.

The problem is not so serious with normal usages, but it's solution may related
with http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=112783. Please also take a
look.

To repeat the problem, just simply open any odf document, then save and close
it.  When saving the odf document, to update some ODF meta data,
DOM::CElement::removeChild() is called, so several unoxml dom CNode are removed

For any UNO XML CNode objects that are not removed from the DOM tree, their
corresponding libxml DOM nodes will be completely removed by api
xmlFreeDoc(m_aDocPtr) in CDocument::~CDocument(),

But for any removed Childern CNodes, libxml dom tree doesn't have all these
nodes, so in fact all these node will leak after the CDocument object released.

DOM::CElement::removeChild() may be also called in other cases, such as calling
through UNO API  :: com :: sun :: star :: xml :: dom :: XNode::removeChild()
directly in OOo applications.

Our current ugly fix is to identify all removed Child CNode objects in CDocument
dtor api, then for each orphaned CNode, call xmlFreeNodeList().  But it seems
this fix conflicts with the fix code of
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=112783, since CDocument won't
remember all child CNode objects any more.

Repeat Opening-closing the attached sample .ods file for several times, you can
find there is obvious memory increase.  

The cause of the problem is that for each SC notes object,  it will create an
ScPostIt object.   In this calls
  
ScPostIt::ScPostIt()->ScPostIt::CreateCaption()->ScCaptionCreator.GetCaption(), 
 
ScCaptionCreator has an SdrCaptionObj object and returns to ScPostIt, then
ScPostIlt store it in DrawPage object by calling,
   pDrawPage->InsertObject( maNoteData.mpCaption );

While in ScpostIt::RemoveCaption(), it calls,
   pDrawPage->RemoveObject( maNoteData.mpCaption->GetOrdNum() );
to Remove the SdrCaptionObj from the DrawPage.  But the SdrCaptionObj is not
released, so it leaks finally.

And mpViewContact->mxViewIndependentPrimitive2DSequence attr of SdrObject class
which is the base class of SdrCaptionObj keeps so many Primitive2D objects,
which makes the leak is obvious.


The suggested fix code is,

No crash in OOO330m2, but test string (in odt attachment) disappears completely.

Bug appears to be caused by miscounting character length(s) of ligatures.

e.g.:

The flickering projector

- select "flickering"
- apply Capitalize Every Word

Output is "The  projector"
(two spaces, no flickering; the selection now covers " pro")

The miscounting is corrupting text buffers or whatever the OOo equivalent is, as
shown when if apply "Undo" after the above:

Output is "The flickeringr"

when you type in a date 
i.e. August 17 (th) and the the (th) becomes a sub or superscript size and you 
put a comma after the date, the computer continues to type in sub/superscript 
size.unfortunately, when I tried to copy and paste what I typed in writer after 
August 17th, "you will not be able to read this".  It did not paste as it  
originally appeared in the swub/super script size.

Try it for yourself.

Testing "OOo-dev 3.3  330m2(Build:9516)" on Fedora Linux 13:

This seems to be caused by shapes having both a gradient fill and transparency.
The first shape with this combination is exported correctly, but causes the
following elements to appear out of position and inverted. Maybe a
transformation matrix is not being restored?

I agree, the problem is in OOO330_m2 but not in 3.2.1.

In the template linked above, the specific shapes that cause the problem are the
lower sides of the text blocks on each slide.

I'm attaching a modified document, made from that template, containing a simpler
test slide and having a style to control the area fill for the lower side shapes
in the actual presentation slides. By modifying the style to use transparency or
not, you can see that the PDF export is either broken or ok.

I'm also attaching a screenshot showing the problem PDF as rendered by evince.

Note: the problem is triggered by shapes that use _both_ transparency and a
gradient fill. Neither property alone with cause the problem. I've only
configured the test document to toggle the transparency property.

Started Open Office.org 3.2.0 
Received a new version update icon.
Started the install of version 3.2.1 in the location of version 3.2.0. 
At first the update appeared to proceed normally. 
After waiting over an hour for the install indicator to finish and inform me 
that install was successful and re-start the computer, this never happened. I 
decided to activate manually re-start and received the notice "Open Office.org 
3.2.1 did not install correctly".
After re-start, opened the desktop link to version 3.2.1 which took a while, 
but 
did open the main page with no colors in the icons. Have opened a previous .odt 
document to check various aspect of what might not work.
Currently the writer appear not to not to spell check.
Microsoft word files icons appear colorless with no id visible.
?
Should I un-install the entire version 3.2.1 and try a fresh install

When importing a CSV file OpenOffice will truncate an entry after 65536
characters. Discovered after random survey responses were found to be missing
data.  I selectivly modified records to determine 65536 was the limit.

The included file gives a sample of the of our dataset which was exported from a
third-party survey software.  You will notice Harvard's entry truncates
prematurely and actually causes the next entry to begin on the same line.

I can add - if you remove the table alias the error clears - which is also a way
of saying can confirm this issue with the query parser using OOO330m_2 / Ubuntu.
-but as I say, if I change the query from

or even
SELECT "Name", "ClientID" FROM "Clients" AS "Clients"
then this simple query, at least, runs as expected with escape processing

I frequently encounter screen redraw problems when scrolling as in the attached 
screenshot. I can't seem 
to find any action that triggers the problems--sometimes it happens 
immediately, sometimes it takes a 
few minutes to appear. Sometimes Reloading the document fixes the problem, 
sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks--you are exactly right. Sorry I didn't think of this :O

Instead of the new OpenSymbol, my tests were actually using the system-wide
font, installed by Fedora's package of OOo 3.2.

If I repeat the tests where I know 330m2 uses the new font file, then I get
normal results, in fact the spacing I see is now less than before, as mru noted
above.

I'm running 32-bit X86.

This can be closed as far as I'm concerned; it seems to be a font
version/selection issue, which is already covered by Issue 113586.

Still don't fully understand what you want to achieve but I'll try to guess...

First, A word processor is not a vector graphic drawing application so that the
comparison with Inkscape doesn't hold.

Do you try to make the text inside of the frame being exactly aligned with the
left border? What should it be good for? What if you decide to use a
bigger/other font? Why not using a real footer?

It seems you try to "build" a document with elements which are not suiting for
the task...

You can already get this alignment working on the frame position to margin and
subtracting the distance text to border to it.
So it's not a "snap", it's a simple positioning.

Hi,

the uploaded document shows a very interesting feature: If one tries to place
the cursor on the first word of the second page, the cursor jumps into the
headline instead. It is almost impossible to edit the text.

On cannot move the cursor by pressing "down" down to the second page.

Removing the comment or the first page does fix it.

The example is heavily downstripped from a real world document.

I got an exception when trying to open and save doc files as HTML via CLI OO API
in C# .NET application. 

This error only appears when opening DOC files, other formats like DOCX, RFT
work fine. Also when I open DOC and save as text or pdf all works fine. Only
saving as html throws this exception.

It's the word processor. Scenario: For some reason you reduce the right border
of the page layout by several cm. Zoom out to see the full page. Then you'd like
to have a full-width footer. So you try to add a frame (German: Rahmen) at the
bottom of the page that is aligned with the left border of the text and the
bottom of the page. With grid (German: Raster) active the frame snaps (German:
einrasten) besides the text borders. Probably for a higher zoom factor, the
frame actually snaps at the text borders. Is that descriptive enough, or do you
need a sample document?

I would guess this problem would reappear every time you try to install OOo with

Ok, this is not driver dependent, I see it with the generic PostScript PPD
(driver). The page size in your template is "22cm x 15.5cm". Which is not C5
landscape (which would be  22.9cm x 16.2cm). As I suspected this is a non
printer paper format that is nowadays centered on the paper that gets actually
used (which is incidentally C5 since it is the supported format from the PPD
that comes closest). The centering is indeed a change from 3.2, however that
change was intentional (reasoning that most likely you are going to have a
better result when printing on a paper of the wrong format since there is more
border space potentially to fill).

I found a PPD file for the Epson Aculaser C1100 from here:

The printer seems to support C5 as paper but it uses non standard naming. Which
leads to only "A4" and "Letter" being supported by name. More serious: the PPD
constraints Paper format "C5" to Duplex and inputslot "Auto" (the latter of
which is at least the default). If you'd not use CUPS to print, you could use
the spadmin utility to set these to ignore. Otherwise I have no good
recommendation, you could comment out all the fluffy "*UIConstraints" in the PPD
file, but that is not a solution.

This is not the first PPD that has some strange UIConstraints. CUPS seems to
ignore them mostly, so perhaps we should add an option to do that, too.

tl->ih: I put all the changes DR, HDU and me thought to be import in the new
attached document. That one includes the changes listed by DR above as well.
Please review them and say what you think about it. Are they ok can they be done

Also we like to say that the new Greek symbols with serifs look much better than
the old ones before. Many thanks! 
Even though it took us a bit of time to get used to the new look. ;-) But now we
are, and thanks to that the list of symbols to be discussed I originally had in
mind has shrunk considerably.
