[AMRadio] New Vanity Callsign

2005-06-17 Thread Bob WB5YYX
Pete-

This is Bob Scupp, formerly WB5YYX of Albuquerque, New Mexico and now
Mountainair, New Mexico. I am one of your customers and a subscriber to this AM
Radio mailing list. Just wanted to say hello and that I always enjoy your
informative, well thought out comments here. On June 7 the FCC issued to me a
new vanity callsign K5SEP, Kilowatt Five Sporadic E Propagation. I am
celebrating 37 years of VHF and above operation. This September I will have
been licensed 38 years and counting. I thought why not recycle and reuse some
of the 1950's 1 X 3 call signs? I was also born in 1950. Guess I am an original
1950's sort of a guy myself.

Enjoy,

Subject: [AMRadio] List Posting Question

I'll be changing ISP's in a month or so (dialup to Satellite) and I'm
in the process of changing over the Lists I subscribe to.

I've subscribed to the AMradio list, but when I post, it will not
send a copy to my new email address (and I'm posting from my new email
address; resubscribed from it etc). The message gets to the list, I
just don't get a copy. I've verified this as I still receive the list
from my old email address.

I've sent an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED], but that just bounces
back. I've been to my member page for the AM list, and verified I
have the correct boxes checked etc.

Any ideas?

Looking forward to getting rid of dialup..

 Gentlemen;
If you cannot arrange to pick this equipment up at Simi Valley, CA
 or do
not want the entire lot, there is no need to read further. I am
 offering
it first to the members of the reflectors. If it does no sell here,
 I
will put it on that on-line auction site. If it does not sell
 there, I
will break it up and ship it at the buyers expense for professional
packing and shipping. I know I could get more if I was willing to
 break
it up and ship it. Due to circumstances I am going for a quick,
 clean
 sale.
Due to failing health, I am reducing my equipment inventory. I am
starting with the largest, heaviest and most difficult to pack and
 ship:
my AM station. It consists of the following items, all in good
 operating
condition. I use this station for the weekly AMI net and the
 monthly CCA
net. I get good reports on my audio.
 Heathkit DX-100B transmitter
 Hallicrafters SX-42 receiver
 Electro-voice model 620 mic
Homebrew 10 speaker in wooden case
 Homebrew 12 Amp voltage reducer
 Heathkit IM-2410 frequency counter
RCA WO-33A scope / mod mon
 Price: $500 cash and carry.
If you are a sincere buyer please write for detailed description
 and pix.
Please don't waste your time and mine if you cannot meet the above
 conditions. Thank you very much.

Re: [AMRadio] Baxter gets it

2005-06-17 Thread Patrick Jankowiak
I find it all very entertaining. Indeed, the requirements of his
class of license do not keep the riffraff out.

After what he does with a part of the spectrum that I would like
to use but for one requirement, I hope they throw the book at him.

One FCC term I see is apparent liability If it is merely
apparent and the FCC does not accuse him of actual liability, why
would he be motivated to pay a dime?

And does the FCC have the authority and the power to actually
take money from him?

Just curious as to how these things play out.

PJ

Re: [AMRadio] Baxter gets it

2005-06-17 Thread Jim Wilhite
Pat, innocent until proven guilty. Nothing happens until he appears before
a ALJ who rules on the guilty part.

Once found guilty, he can appeal to federal courts. If guilty, his case is
referred for collection, to whom I forget (maybe the U.S. Marshals), but he
will be hounded until he pays. The license renewal is a separate thing.
