Totally agree. One word to sum up all the bollywood over-dramatic 
gimmicks...Karan Johar...I know these shows have pretty good intentions behind 
it and its good to see that they are doing a bit to help humanity, but still 
think it highly monopolized and still think their main intention is to 
entertain audience. And 'real' TV, especially reality shows is always filtered 
content so one can never know what actually goes on 'behind the scenes' in the 
'real' world when watching these things.  

Nevertheless it was great to hear ARR Sir playing the Rehna Tu intro at the 
start of the show. And also this is the first time Sir has appeared in a full 
hour talk show! It was great to watch his reactions to the videos that were 
played, also his answers and humble remarks throughout the show. :-)

Thanks for the links. Glad for Santosh and other friends who made it to the 
show. A bit surprised not to see any female fans in the auditions.. may be they 
didnt show their auditions.

Also surprising that no1 even mentioned about background scores, and asked 
simple questions like "what is your favorite song" "what was your first award" 
- oh come on! have you not heard of google? 

Still it was enjoyable show. Piano bit by Rahman was memorizing!! Rahman seemed 
quite happy and comfortable throughout the show.. and it was cheereful moment 
when he mentioned that he reads fan posts and listen to their suggestion / 
comments :)

[arr] AR's music is not to be just heard or listened..........

it is to be experienced and felt.  The word "experience" to me represents 
something felt that is pervasive and through and through, felt by the complete 
being, not necessarily multi-sensory based, but with a sense of wholeness and 
deep satisfaction.  The words "listen" and "hear" also apply to AR's music for 
me at the initial stages, but they do not adequately describe what is 
ultimately felt, since his music is so emotionally deep and ambient filled, 
instrumentally multilayered, and sonically multi-dimensional  

There's music that we just listen and hear on a cursory level, not necessarily 
negating likeability, and then there's music that takes the next leap into 
enabling us to feel and experience.  It behooves us to be open to this 
experience without cynicism or pre-supposition and pre-judgement.  A cursory 
listen to AR's music in most instances to me is an opportunity missed.  At the 
end of the day, you will either like or not like a song, but the opportunity to 
experience the music on a deeper level must present itself since the deeper, 
more experience rich based ingredients are almost always there in AR's music.  
Hence, the frequent pattern of multiple exposures correlating with greater 
likeability.

  AR: It takes 6 months to get a call sheet from SPB. We wanted SPB to sing 
a song in Sultan but he was busy for 6 months and by the time he was free I was 
out of town, so we might have to wait another 6 months to record that song.

I tend to agree with Ramesh. It was a fully masala dhingchak show ! Though
there were moments of brilliance with AR and the 3 fans. Again, the feedback
is for the show, not for AR or his fans.

Thanks for the links (and to the person who uploaded them). This is the first 
time I saw what the show was about. While I do appreciate the intent behind the 
show and how it gives a sizable donation to one family for their betterment, a 
lot of the gimmicks in the show left me with mixed feelings.

When the lady was talking about her hardship it felt very manipulative to have 
music in the background. It's not cinema. It's someone's life. To use music and 
overscore it, is an insult to that person since it's trying to evoke feelings 
of pity. That she has managed thus far despite the hardships is a testament to 
her resilience and courage. What she needs is sympathy and support. Not the 
cinematic equivalent of "look at her sad plight. Now cue in the sad strings and 
flute. Feel sorry for her". You don't have to be patronizing when want to be 
charitable. And I haven't even started about the rest of the gimmicks. Enough 
said.

For all the noble intentions, they had just 3 minutes about the lady and the 
rest of it was all fluff. It primarily seems like a mix of a talk show and a 
reality show that earns brownie points masquerading as a sincere effort at 
charity.

woow really a very happy news to celebrate for both ARR fans and Mani 
Sir's fans...so guyz get ready for another music feast after VTV from our 
mozart of music!!
so hereafter plz do update any news about raavan film and about itz audio 
release n all as soon as possible in this forumcan anyone tell which audio 
company has bought the rights of raavan audio???is it sony or some other 
onebecoz the audio of raavan shud be of higher quality like VTV d 
quality shud not be like the audio of film BLUE... 
 
really very eagerly waiting to see yet another masterpiece from one of the best 
combo of indian cinema ARR-MANI RATNAM... ! ;-)

It says Maniratnam's Media manager Nikhil has stated that the movie is almost 
completed and will be released in June with Audio release in April.
