Re: [Chevelle-List] corvette rear
I see them going for around $1,000 to $1,500. Width? I "think" they are approximately 60" but don't hold me to that number. If you're thinking about putting one under a Chevelle,,forget it. Too much money and trouble. Re: [Chevelle-List] paint
That's a great idea... I never would have thought to do that :) I remember how hard it was picking a color from a book. The 1/2" x 1/2" "dark blue" that I knew I wanted in the color chart book all looked pretty much the same on paper. I kind of blindly picked... luckily I was happy with my choice :) Rodney. 71 Chevelle Phoenix, AZ - Original Message - From: Keith Cooper To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2002 5:36 PM Subject: Re: [Chevelle-List] paint I did not play follow-the-leader when I pick the color for my 71 Chevelle. One thing that I did that helped me pick the color for my car was to purchase the two colors I liked. I painted a fender, half with one color and half with the other. I noticed that one of the colors showed off the lines and curses better than the other. You should purchase a pint of some colors and try them. Picking a color is a big decision and a lot of work has to be done to make the car look good. Do not paint until you know for sure. Keith Cooper - Original Message - From: pablo To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2002 10:08 AM Subject: [Chevelle-List] paint I have a 1964 300 2 door; all original, that i am just starting to get into. It needs paint and that where I have chosen to begin. The original color was fawn, inside and out. I have not seen any chevelles repainted that color and it seems to me that it would be a waste of time because you really can't see the car with this color. So I am leaning towards going over to that chevelle blue that has always caught my eye. I could always see those blue chevelles coming. After a little investigating I am seeing that there are three colors in this tone of blue in 1964. A dark aqua (lagoon aqua), a medium aqua (aqua aqua) and a medium blue (silver blue). From what i can gather, I cannot determine which is the color that i want. Is there someone who has an opinion that might help me sort this out. When I see the paint on a car there is no mistake, even in some pictures. Is there a more popular blue for the chevelle ? pem

Re: [Chevelle-List] Buying a bumper at Spring Carlisle
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Well I will have to say that I can not give da Boyz a kind recommendation. I have talked to a lot of people and very few have had good experiences with them. Things to watch out for with them: A) the bumpers on display may not alwas been the quality of work you get on yours B) they try raping people on their cores C) if you send a bumper to them you just may get it back D) their customer service has a lot to be desired(just ask my mom about them and she will just give you "that look") E) I've heard a lot of complaints about the durability of the chrome and reluctance to warranty the work All I will say is buyer beware... After da Boyz pissed mom off we ended up getting our bumpers from Tri-City Plating out of Tenn. They are usually at Carlisle and I beleive that 71-72 bumpers were about 225 with exchange. The chrome is triple plated and buffed out real nice. They have a lifetime warranty on the plating and are genuinely nice guys. I sent their # and address to tom earlier.. hopefully he will post it later today. once i find the 800 number for them i will post it. Re: [Chevelle-List] Buying a bumper at Spring Carlisle
Now that I saw their web site, I can say I have heard bad reports about them. From what I have heard they are very sleazy business men and stay away from them. this was told to me by two different sources both in the chevelle parts business. Larry
Re: [Chevelle-List] 0, 30, 60 degree paint
I plan on using the eastwood spray cans myself, chassis black, under hood black, radiator black, and they have different grays. I expect they will be close enough to the correct degree of sheen. I have also heard that you can get a barbeque paint in a spray can at some hardware stores that has a sheen that looks pretty good. As far as the regular spray paint that is availible, flat will be too flat, and semi gloss will be too shiny for inner fenders and such.

Re: [Chevelle-List] Buying a bumper at Spring Carlisle
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I guess I've looked at about all the bumper options. I bought new REPRO front and rear bumpers for my '66 convert, and will probably do the same when the hardtop comes together. I bought both at car shows / swap meets. With something this visible, I wanted to be able to eyeball them before ordering sight unseen from some place far away. I am happy with each. The chrome plating is nice and even, and they fit good. I have been told there are at least two different manufacturers of repro bumpers for our cars, and that one is pretty chinsy, and the other pretty good. My advice is to make arrangements for one to be brought to a show, and look it over.
