Well...I will be modifying my rear end and removing the c clips for the
new

the bearings. I may race the car at the local quarter mile, but I will be
 cruising mostly with it!

Global West says go with the ball bearing style bearings. They are used
for
drag racing, butPyle Brothers, that will do the conversion, says the
ball bearings will leak after 10,000 or less miles. Pyle Brothers says you
need to go with the roller style bearings for cruising and they will not
 leak like the ball bearings...

Other than the anti-sway bar, I don't think there are any bushings to worry
about. Ball joints, Pitman arms, tie rods, etc. have grease fittings, but
you get what you get from the manufacturer, and it is metal to metal as far
as I know. You can't buy a poly bushing kit for these fittings, just A-Arms
and sway bars (bar mount and end links) in front.

Since you have the full tilt GW kit, get what else you need from them and
you can be sure that it will all work together, even if it costs a few
dollars more than PST or someone else - not that PST is cheap.

Cant be.
The 40s are a totally different physical size. 30s and 50s are the same
physical size but 50s are not as loud as 30s. Some of my customers who order the
17119 kit ask for 50s instead of 30s, which is not a problem. The 17120 (El

Re: [Chevelle-list] How Harsh is Too Harsh?

2006-01-27 Thread Matthew Post
When I researched body mounts on Team Chevelle, the overwhelming consensus
was to use the plain ol' stock rubber ones, which I did. Those that had
tried Poly ones said they had more vibrations rattle up through the body
and the ride was harsher (without any performance gain).

When it came to the sway bar mount and end links, I used
polyurethane. People say they squeak, but I figure I can get under there
and grease them periodically.

either the most popular size *(or just the one that wears out the fastest)*.

My original driveshaft (a 1969 El Camino w/ PG) fit right into the TH350

the shaft size is supposed to be?

If you are
looking for the window regulator, they are available in power or manual
versions. I dont think individual parts of the regulator are available. You can
see a picture of a 1968 manual window regulator here:

Hopefully
the picture will tell you if this is the part you are describing.

Re: [Chevelle-list] Flowmaster

2006-01-27 Thread John Nasta
The Flowmaster site probably only shows the list price because they don't
sell retail, and they know that most of the retailers sell them below list
(we sort of have to in order to sell any at all). In other words, they are
not going to show prices that would compete with a retailer because the
retailers are their customers, not the public.

I've used the gasket hole punches before. Bought a cheap set at
Harbor Freight. You can heat them with a propane torch burn clean,
round holes through the fabric. You will have to know where the hole
goes first.

I may also replace the body mounts, again which way should I go?

The VIN does not tell you what color the car is. It tells you the
make, model, series, year, assembly plant, and production number. The trim
tag will have the paint code, interior code, build date, etc on it.

Take the tail shaft off the trans, only 4 bolts hold it on, just make sure
you get a new O ring for it. There are 2 seals, 1 is for the TH400/M22,
the other is for TH350/PG.

Re: [Chevelle-list] Flowmaster

2006-01-27 Thread John Nasta
Flowmaster recently raised all of their prices, so that may not still be the
price. I just updated all of my Flowmaster prices about a week ago to
reflect the new 2006 prices. I know I personally can't sell that system for
$300 (assuming you mean the 11719 because the 11720 is even more). Retail
businesses just can't survive on 10% margins, especially with that much cash
outlay. Flowmaster makes it really hard for the smaller vendors because they
give much better pricing to the bigger guys. You just can't compete with a
margin like that and still stay in business. If they are really selling the
11719 for $300, that is 20% below jobber, which no small company can compete
with because we just don't get the kind of pricing that would allow that.
The shipping would cost more than what we would make on it.
