Re: [Chevelle-list] Coil Spring Question
I'm not positive about the newer cars, but the 66's also have an indent in the upper frame for the end of the coil to sit in. Re: [Chevelle-list] Coil Spring Question
I did the same work to my 71 earlier this year. I put new front springs back in and bolted everything up. Then I looked at my old springs and realized they had flat spots. I have no idea which way I put the new ones in. More than likely mine are in wrong, but I'm not tearing into that suspension again anytime soon. I'm a horrible mechanic, at least the first time around. My car doesn't sit level but I think it has more to do with a blown air shock in the rear that needs to get tore out. It slants about 4 inches to the left without me in the car and I'm rather large. So I'm sure its real interesting with me in the car! Re: [Chevelle-list] Coil Spring Question
Also, on my 72 at least, there are 2 holes about 3/8 in in diameter in the lower control arm. They are about an inch or 1.5 in apart. The lower end of the spring is suppose to end in between the 2 holes. IE the first hole is covered the second is not. Hope that makes sense. Re: [Chevelle-list] Coil Spring Question
Josh, I think tose are weep holes to let water drain out. when I done the springs on my 72 there was an indentation in the lower control arm that the end of the bottom of the coil fits into.and the flat side goes up,which I think was just mentioned on the list. hope it helps. if it does'nt I will go out and lay on my cooold !!! garage floor and look for you :O) Jimmy C. - Original Message - From: Josh Campbell To: The Chevelle Mailing List Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2007 8:12 PM Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] Coil Spring Question I was wondering about that Thanks guys Rick Schaefer [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Also, on my 72 at least, there are 2 holes about 3/8 in in diameter in the lower control arm.
