Re: Problem with Console Port
Have you checked your config-register setting, and tried all the baud rates available? Can you break into rommon and maintain the console connection? I'm thinking that maybe when the full image is decompressed the console port stops responding for some reason. Possible causes could be memory issues, corrupt image, etc. Have you recently upgraded the image on this router and maybe theres not enough RAM to load it? I've seen routers stop responding because of that. Try re-seating the memory SIMMs. The NVRAM is EEPROM I believe. HTH, Let us know how you fix it. -E --- Khurrum Shahzad <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi all , > > I am facing a problem with my 2501 router. Re: Problem with Console Port
Hmmm Nvam is soldered on and yes I guess you could desolder it but i think it's that cold solder stuff and you need funky tools and then you have to scavange the chips of another router. ( and then render that router useless) If you pull out the flash and ram will it boot into rom ? Connect it to the network maybe you enable cdp and can see it that way . Is the eth port sending anything out at all .? how far in the boot process does it get ? Problem with Console Port
Hi all , I am facing a problem with my 2501 router. It was working fine, but forthe last two weeks I am not able to connect to the console port of therouter. It shows nothing on the screen when I try to connect and pressenter. When I checked the Signal level of the console port on my Break Outbox, it showed me the continuous LOW status of TxD signal. When I reboot therouter, it shows me the startup messages and finally after showing all thosemessages it hangs and TAKES NO INPUT from the HYPER TERMINAL. I have also tried many terminal Software like Telix, Teraterm but response of the router remains the same. There is no problem in Console Cable as cable is working fine on other Routers. The router has no prior configurations (as I did an ERASE STARTUPCONFIGURATION before), so I am not able to connect via TELNET or AUX port. Before doing ERASE STARTUP CONFIGURATION, I was connecting to reouter with AUX Port and did my configuration but after erase NVRAM, AUX was shut and router becomes useless. Is there any way out???Can I replace NVRAM of this router with any other NVRAM having configuration and then connect with the router with AUX port or via TELNET? Is NVRAM Of 2501 router replaceable? Please help me if anybody has the solution. Khurrum

Hi, I am facing a problem with my 2501 router. It was working fine, but forthe last few days I am not able to connect to the console port of therouter.
