In TMS Admin, go to Administrative Tools – Configuration – Conference Settings.
Then scroll down to Advanced and make sure “External MCU Usage in Routing” is
set to always.  Otherwise, TMS will only book a bridge/Webex if it needs to;
IE. there are 2 or more video systems.

I have TMS 15.6.1 and TMSXE 5.6 trying to get CMR cloud scheduling working
through TMSXE.

I can schedule my MX300 in the portal with an externally hosted WebEx URI and
it works fine.

When I use either the WebEx Meetings plugin in Outlook or the @webex macro for
calendar connector, as described in the TMSXE documentation, it does not
schedule the meeting as an externally hosted meeting as indicated in
documentation. Ir reserves the MX300 correctly but only as a reservation, not
as a video conference.

I can schedule 2 video codecs and it schedules the video conference as expected.

Has anyone worked with this before and got it working?

Re: [cisco-voip] Cisco MediaSense get old recording calls

2017-10-30 Thread Chris Ward (chrward)
Hi Claiton,

MediaSense comes with default pruning settings that deletes older recordings
based on age or available disk space. Are your settings set to 30 days? If so,
those recordings have been deleted. Cisco doesn’t have any way to recover
deleted recordings.

passphrase ending in '03'.

Before I post a web page or utility for this, I'd like to test it out with
other versions. If you have lab environment and wouldn't mind helping out,
enable remote support and send me the passphrase (along with source

Re: [cisco-voip] jabber guest - clientless or not?

2016-11-18 Thread Chris Ward (chrward)
Lelio,

There is a plugin required for Jabber Guest to function. It is NOT WebRTC based
and therefore requires these plugins. The plugins are fast and easy and don't
even require a browser restart, so they should not be overly difficult to
install.

If you are looking for a plugin free client. The new Cisco Meetings Server
(Acano) is WebRTC based and is something you could investigate.

I have seen on more than one occasion that Jabber guest needs you to download a

Is this the intention? I expected that Jabber guest was to be a clientless

There may be a requirement where a group would like to record an event using an
external hand held camera.

I'm wondering if I grab an SX80 codec and use the camera's HDMI output, that
should stream to the other side without a problem. Say to another SX?? in the
other room.

What would I use to record? Can Mediasense do HD recording? Or is my only
option to spring for a TelePresence Recording Server and the underlying
infrastructure to support that? which is?

what's the frame rate of recording Chris?

from wiki:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1080p

ATSC

In the United States, the original ATSC standards for HDTV supported 1080p
video, but only at the frame rates of 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30 frames per
second (colloquially known as 1080p24, 1080p25 and 1080p30).

In July 2008, the ATSC standards were amended to include H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
compression and 1080p at 50, 59.94 and 60 frames per second (1080p50 and
1080p60). Such frame rates require H.264/AVC High Profile Level 4.2, while
standard HDTV frame rates only require Level 4.0.

This update is not expected to result in widespread availability of 1080p60
programming, since most of the existing digital receivers in use would only be
able to decode the older, less-efficient MPEG-2 codec, and because there is a
limited amount of bandwidth for subchannels.

Hi Leonard,

Cisco licensing is all user-based now. So the question is how many users do you
have? Are you interest in CUWL or Al a carte licensing? Do you have a VM
environment already or will you need to purchase UCS hardware to run the new
software? How long of a support contract will you be signing? Will you be
deploying yourself or would a partner be handling day 0 and day 1 activities?

There are hopefully enough partners on this mailer that one will try to

Did a quick search inside our knowledge base here, looks like this will need a
TAC case. In some cases a reboot fixes it and in other cases, the DB needs some

out root cause, so please open a TAC case and let them do some troubleshooting.

If you are in a crunch, you can try a reboot of the CUC node/cluster.

I have this same issue currently with my 10.5.2 cluster su1. LDAP integrated
users have the LDAP status greyed out as well as extension, etc. I have a TAC
open as I'm sure it's a bug, but I had luck in the short term by using BAT to
fix it. Exported users in CSV, modified, then updated.

CSCuv04411 is only available in an ES right now. So TAC will have to get you
the ES. If you un-ldap, change, and re-ldap, it will get set back to the
original value. The guy I would ask about when this fix would be in an SU isn’t
online yet. Will check with him in a bit.

Hi Tim,

Yes, still separate recordings, call stitching, where we build you a single
file from multiple call legs will probably come in our next major release.

Let me look into the time thing, I think we should just assume 0 as the min if
nothing is entered. I will see if we can get a bug or enhancement filed on that.

Also, since it seems like you have some experience with MediaSense, if you have
feedback or product direction questions, I can put you in touch with one of our
PMs. We are always looking to help validate the roadmap and make sure we
haven’t missed any smaller pieces.

Hi Chris,

Seems better, but all separate recordings still.

Is there some logic behind that?

Also the search is pretty strange, you can’t just say longer than 30 seconds
for example, you have to specify the upper bound as well?

Derek,

A product like Calabrio Search and Play can plug in on top of MediaSense to
provide this functionality. There are others as well, including NICE, or Mida
solutions. This means you wouldn’t have to reconfigure your recording
architecture or purchase a new recording product. You would really just be
purchasing a new GUI.

Just so you know, MediaSense will be adding the groups/roles/permissions
feature in our 11.5 release which should be out at the end of 2015 or beginning
of 2016. So depending on your urgency, you could just wait.

Also, in 11.0, we eliminated the server SKU so that you wouldn’t actually have
to purchase anymore server licenses for more instances/clusters, you just need
to provide the virtualization resources to run it on.

Re: [cisco-voip] What is better than MediaSense for recording calls?

2015-06-16 Thread Chris Ward (chrward)

We are running CUCM 10.5 and have MediaSense to record calls in one call
centre. We would like to record more groups but have a small problem. Anyone
that can view/hear the recordings, can see all of them. There is no way to
isolate one group from another.
Rather than purchase separate MediaSense servers for each group, we were
wondering if there were any competitive products which would solve our problem.
We cannot use a server that requires us to route all our traffic through the
subnet of the recording server. MediaSense does not require this but some
products I had seen do.

We currently use both verint and higher ground. The latter is using both a span

Verint is expensive and is frustrating to support since they love using Java.
But it works.

Higher ground easy to install and support but it depends on a thick client.

Re: [cisco-voip] collab edge dns/SSL cert

2015-06-01 Thread Chris Ward (chrward)
I think the problem is requesting your root domain. Some issuers won’t issue
root domain certs and the ones that do call them wildcard certs as they cover
an entire domain (support for wildcard certs are somewhat limited).

For example, if you were to go to https://cisco.com/ rather than
https://www.cisco.com/ you would find that the first has an invalid SSL cert as
cisco doesn’t have a root domain cert.

For the very security savvy, it is considered to be inappropriate to use
domain-level certs.

Go with just the hostname of the Expressway and potentially an actual alternate
hostname if you ever needed to provide an alternate DNS entry to reach the same
Expressway. In either case, drop domain.edu. You don’t need it and I suspect
that’s that GoDaddy is complaining about.

Hello everyone!

I'm getting an error kicked back from GoDaddy trying to sign my expressway-e
cert, looking for a sanity check here.

I'm setting up the external side as a cluster (of 1 currently), I'd like for my
users to be able to sign in as usern...@domain.edumailto:usern...@domain.edu
for MRA.

dns:
expressway-e is
expe-cluster1-node1.domain.eduhttp://expe-cluster1-node1.domain.edu
srv = _collab-edge._tls.domain.eduhttp://tls.domain.edu ,
sips._tcp.domain.eduhttp://tcp.domain.edu both point to the
expe-cluster1-node1

exp-e cluster name is domain.eduhttp://domain.edu

on my CSR i have it set to generate a SAN for FQDN of expressway cluster plus
FQDN of this peer, so:
DNS:expe-cluster1-node1.domain.eduhttp://expe-cluster1-node1.domain.edu
DNS:domain.eduhttp://domain.edu

GoDaddy kicks back an error saying You can not add a SAN that is the same as
the domain you are already using.

Is my dns/SAN configuration incorrect or is this a deficiency with godaddy
(standard UCC cert)? Or did I miss the boat completely (totally possible!)

You probably want to look at “Intrasite” networking first. Intersite networking
is for linking up 2 intrasite networks.

For intersite networking, they don’t need to be the same version but there may

2015-03-03 Thread Chris Ward (chrward)
While it doesn't help you with your current query, I can tell you that we have
lots of roadmap items on the Search and Play interface.

The MediaSense team never intended the Search and Play application to be used
on a regular basis. It was originally built as a reference application for
testing the APIs. We always intended for partners to fill in the gaps. We have
found, that customers want Search and Play to be a very functional and useful
interface and so are roadmap is starting to reflect that now.

Stay tuned for 11.0 and 11.X and hopefully you will see some improvements.
MediaSense probably won't ever tackle analytics or advanced features like that,
but we do want to build MediaSense to tackle most of our customer's needs.

I'm looking for a recommendation on a MediaSense interface that provides access

It would need to be able to support multiple MediaSense clusters, other QM
features aren't a requirement.

Live monitoring would be a plus, but not a requirement.

It's rather frustrating that MediaSense fails to include a reasonable user
interface. I get the protection of existing partner businesses, but there has
to be a better balance than the cumbersome agent monitoring included with CAD
and a full blown QM tool. Surely there has to be something out there I'm over
looking that isn't $200+ per seat for these rather basic features.

Has there been any update or better way to handle this in 9.1 since the last

Running into this issue on CUC 9.1.1 with a client. Users never check messages
via TUI and aren't getting notified of their mailbox being over quota due to
external messages still being allowed to be left.
They noticed a problem when they deleted messages in outlook and they weren't
being deleted but showing as saved messages or outlook deleting the message
then it showing back up in their inbox because unity wasn't putting it in
deleted items folder.

I can see issue with SMTP notification like others have mentioned, as that is
done via another method and if they aren't using a SMTP SmartHost at all it
requires another messaging interface to be configured and setup. Some places
are getting strict about basic SMTP relays as well. How does that work with
Office365 for instance?

Additionally, when the called subscriber later listens to the

For managing partners and other important folks, I would also look at

Ryan,

Can you be more specific on where you get the trial license? I heard this same
thing mentioned at Cisco Live, and when I approached VMWare about it, they
pushed me to Cisco, and Cisco pushed me to VMWare.

An alternative option, which I'm not endorsing, is to apply the key seen here
in this Cisco Field Trainers video, temporarily of course, and then revert the
key once done with PCD.

Subject: Re: [cisco-voip] Prime Collaboration Deployment Tool

PCD is a tool, it is not a complete upgrade and patching solution
(sales/marketing). It has specific versions and specific tasks that it can do.
Many things it cannot (verify with cco). It does work with all the caveats.
You will need to upload all cop files and iso files to the PCD server. All
files will be pushed from the PCD server as part of the upgrade task. If you
have nodes at remote locations, this will be 4-5gb across your network
(allocate necessary time). It will upgrade one node at a time, streamlining and
parallel ops is not really in PCD’s deck of cards at this time. For example, it
will do each cucm subscriber in serial, instead of all at the same time, or
upgrading IMP while it doing cucm. With proper time, it will complete.

Normally in a significant upgrade as 6.x to 10.x is, you are obviously getting
new hardware. Without PCD, this would all be staged in an offline environment,
so cut night is turning off the existing servers and turning on the new ones.
VM migration and all that has to be planned for, etc. However, with PCD,
everything happens the night of cut. PCD migrates the data out of the existing
cluster, then it shuts those down and bring up the new VM’s.

Please also note that you need appropriate VMWare licensing to support the
storage API’s .. you need foundation or standard the default that is offered as
part of BE7K will not permit the use of PCD.

In your migration you will also need to plan for endpoint firmware upgrades,
depending on what you are running for some endpoints this may be a multi-step
upgrade. Some have also noted there is a bug with the default 10.5 firmware as
it relates to headset and transfer functionality, so following your upgrading
to 10.X you will want to upgrade past the default firmware.

The trick with PCD is to figure out what you want your upgrade process to look
like then determine where PCD can help. PCD is great for pushing cop files and
firmware upgrades across medium to large size clusters (big time savings). When
it comes to full upgrades, it does get the job done, but it does take longer.

Hope this helps,

Re: [cisco-voip] Unity Connection 10.5.1 and Lotus Notes integration?

2014-08-14 Thread Chris Ward (chrward)
Both Donoma and Esna have Lotus integrations. I can't really speak to the
merits or either, but they are usually pretty will to run demos.

Natively, your options are IMAP or Intelligent Notifications which we have
refined a little more since launch. In 10.5 we added an option to attach the
message to the notification.

Status is not synchronized, but could offer more than IMAP in terms of
functionality.

New deployment 10.5.1, customer is using Lotus Notes for their email. Asked

awhile back.

I see the notes about 3rd party support for integration with Lotus Notes in
Unity Connection 10.5.1
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/unified-communications/unity/guide_c07-728376.pdf

Anyone doing this? Does it work? Licensing etc?

Who is the 3rd party?

I'm thinking IMAP might be the only answer.

This looks like a CUCM call routing issue. I doubt CUC logs or queries will
help.

The DN 5000, can you run a route plan report and see where it shows up? In a
Call Forward scenario including CFA, you can specify a different CSS than a
normal would use so it's possible that call flow is different for a CFA vs a
normal call even when dialing the same number.

Re: [cisco-voip] Video Greetings for Unity Cxn

2014-07-22 Thread Chris Ward (chrward)
Hi Matthew,

Can you let me know the versions of CUC and MS you are using? Also, does the
test button provide a positive result on the CUC Video Services page? Also,
there are a couple items that are often missed:

1) You have to either reboot the server or restart the Conversation
Manager service after you add the video service

2) Depending on the phone model, the video camera may be muted (not
sending video to CUC). You may have to unmute the video camera before recording
the video greeting.

Check those out and let me know. I also have a LUA script I need to give you to
control the resolution better than regions can. I am planning on writing a
whitepaper to the same effect and modifying the CUC documentation to mention
the same.

feature but I really wish they'd develop some complete walkthroughs for these
new features.

Re: [cisco-voip] No Ringing on Some outbound Calls - att ipFlex

2014-06-03 Thread Chris Ward (chrward)
In order for CUCM to tell a phone to play ringback tone, CUCM must receive a
ringing or progress indicator from the network. CUCM is probably not getting
the indicator in this case. Some SIP debugs on the GW for a working and not
working call would probably show that. I suspect a flex issue.

Re: [cisco-voip] Cisco Call Recording Solution

As the TME for MediaSense, I am obligated to tell you to take a look at Cisco
MediaSense. MediaSense provides audio recording via the phone's built-in bridge
or CUBE media-forking (which can be dial-peer controlled or CUCM controlled as
of 10.0). We are also offering video call recording in our 10.5 release using
CUBE dial-peer forking.

We have a fairly extensive set of APIs available as well which allows our
partner applications to integrate with MediaSense to provide additional or
supplemental functionality.

Also, maybe one of the most attractive parts of MediaSense is that it is
licensed on a concurrent port basis whereas most other recording products are
licensed on a per user basis which can be more costly.

Let me know if you have any questions. If you are interested in more detail,
you should reach out to your Cisco account team. Or, if you have access, I just
did a MediaSense presentation at CiscoLive that should be online for viewing.

MediaSense is not an OEM. It is a home-grown Cisco product.

The search and play interface was re-written in 10.0. I would suggest you give
it another look if you haven't seen it since the 9.X releases. Reporting
improvements are on our roadmap, but this can be supplemented in our current
releases by using the APIs to retrieve whatever information is required, either
by writing your own app or using a partner app.
