Stus-List where to put the vent

2013-08-03 Thread Bev Parslow
Just bought a 4 inch solar powered vent. What is the best place for it? The
boat is a 29 mark 2. We could try it on the forward hatch, the non opening
acrylic panel in the main cabin, or take out the vent in the head and make it
bigger. Are there any other options?___

Stus-List America's Cup.

2013-09-24 Thread Bev Parslow
I am confused. We have a boat sponsored from a country that last time I used an
atlas was in the Middle East. All participants being interviewed seem to have
an accent from the Southern Hemisphere. Rumour has it that in fact we have only
one American on board. If they win, it should be called the American's Cup.
This really is quite a farce. Why not a boat, built, designed and made in that
country, filled from citizens from there with sponsorship from the state.___

Stus-List fuel contamination continued-jelly in the filter

2015-09-05 Thread Bev Parslow via CnC-List
We paid a mechanic who charged $400 for an engine that ran for 3 hours and
then..revs went down to 1,000 and we managed to get into the dock. Same
situation. I took a sample to the gas barge and it was contaminated beyond
belief. Took out the fuel that was black in some places and then murky in
others. I am now taking the tank out. Last year I cleaned out the tank but that
was not enough. The tank is the original and I would like another made. Part of
the problem is that we do not use enough fuel to keep it happy. I am thinking
then of cutting down the size of the tank. That would mean the fuel we put in
would be used much faster. Will also replace all the hoses etc. Has anyone
downsized their tank in a 29-2 and if so what is the size. The irony is that it
is cheaper to buy a new tank here in Vancouver than to get the fuel "polished".___

On the 29-2 the wire for the fuel indicator has a 14-16 gauge pink to the

thick wire. Can I just chuck it and put in a 14-16 instead. Hope this is

The head plumbing got clogged up on our last trip. I could not fix it without
removing some of the old hoses. As expected, they all had to be cut apart,
nothing was going to come loose. I heaved it all in the dumpster and got some
new hose and a 1.5 inch 90 degree elbow. No matter how tight I made the clamps,
it ended up leaking. I took it back to West Marine and did some comparisons
with other 1.5? fittings. Most of them are a bit too big and you can?t even get
them on without heating the hose up and using a lot of force. Say they are all
maybe 1.6 inches in diameter. The 90 degree fittings are more like 1.4 inches.
I ended up using a boat pole to fish the old plumbing back out of the dumpster
and cutting the elbow out of that mess to use again.
Final part of the rant: The Y-Valve has a smooth fitting that is a bit tight
and doesn?t leak, but you can get the hose back off. Why can?t they ALL be that
way!

Stus-List wiring problem.

2020-04-30 Thread Bev Parslow via CnC-List
Over the last two months we have had some electrical changes on the boat. The
pulpit was taken off and repaired. A new led light was put on it. For a Xmas
present I put in 4 new led cabin lights and they work a treat. The lights all
work on shore power, but when on battery power these two circuits are blown. So
lights work on shore but not on battery. Where to begin? Do I disconnect the
new lights and see if that makes a difference. Thoughts gentle people.___
