reopen 739691 thanks Hi, This is an automatic notification regarding your Bug report which was filed against the libgl1-mesa-glx package: #739691: libgl1-mesa-glx:amd64: Upgrade to Xserver 1.15 broke kwin and others: Invalid GLXFBConfig returned It has been closed by Maximiliano Curia m...@debian.org. Thanks a lot for uploading the patched kwin :) However, I don't think that this closes this bugreport. It fixes the immediately user-visible issue in KWin, but Mesa still has a regression: Even though it announces GLX 1.4, the default for the GLX_DRAWABLE_TYPE is wrong. Bug#739691: libgl1-mesa-glx:amd64: Upgrade to Xserver 1.15 broke kwin and others: Invalid GLXFBConfig returned
Package: libgl1-mesa-glx Version: 9.2.2-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, after upgrading to XServer 1.15, compositing in KWin does not work anymore. Downgrading X back to 1.14 confirmed that indeed the issue was introduced by the upgrade. However, further research indicates that this is actually a bug in Mesa, which has been reported against Ubuntu at [1] and upstream at [2]. Upstream has patches [3][4]. It's not only kwin showing the bug, but also my small GL test application [5]: glXChooseFBConfig returns a GLXFBConfig that, when passed to glXGetVisualFromFBConfig, just yields NULL. The patch [3] indicates that the problem is incorrect default values for GLX_DRAWABLE_TYPE, and indeed if I explicitly request a GLX_DRAWABLE_TYPE of GLX_WINDOW_BIT in my test application, the bug is gone. $ sudo lspci -nn |grep -i vga 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0126] (rev 09) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [GeForce GT 630M] [10de:0de9] (rev ff) Kind regards Ralf [1] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1278168 [2] https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70706 [3] http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/20458/ [4] http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/20464/ [5] http://www.ralfj.de/git/gltest.git -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (100, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.12-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libgl1-mesa-glx:amd64 depends on: ii libc6 2.17-97 ii libdrm22.4.52-1 ii libglapi-mesa 9.2.2-1 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.2-1 ii libx11-xcb12:1.6.2-1 ii libxcb-dri2-0 1.10-2 ii libxcb-glx01.10-2 ii libxcb11.10-2 ii libxdamage11:1.1.4-1 ii libxext6 2:1.3.2-1 ii libxfixes3 1:5.0.1-1 ii libxxf86vm11:1.1.3-1 ii multiarch-support 2.17-97 Versions of packages libgl1-mesa-glx:amd64 recommends: ii libgl1-mesa-dri 9.2.2-1 libgl1-mesa-glx:amd64 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#573325: Bug#711623: Re: Bug#711623: ssh-agent: Removes LD_LIBRARY_PATH from environment
Hi, Well, x11-common is welcome to implement it that way if it chooses to and if it actually works; note that the file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90x11-common_ssh-agent is not actually shipped by the openssh packages themselves, but rather by x11-common ... See bug #573325, filed a while back for this. Note that there are problems documented in that bug with making sure that ssh-agent has an appropriate lifetime, so it's not just as simple as the approach you suggest. Sure, that was just meant as an indication of the desired semantics. A proper solution has actually been suggested in the bug you linked: Add a (non-setgid) ssh-agent-launch wrapper, which fork()s to exec ssh-agent, applies the environment changes return by that one, then runs the program given as argument, and when that program quits, it kills ssh-agent. That way, no setgid process is in the parent-child path to the user session, and process lifetime is handled correctly. (The approach used in the current Ubuntu development release where ssh-agent runs as an Upstart user job fixes this, but it may be some time before we can persuade Debian to switch to this!) Yeah, upstart/systemd user sessions are the real solution, but well, we have to work with what's currently available ;-) Fair enough; I've added something similar to the text in README.Debian there for my next upload. Bug#640499: libxvmc: please add multiarch support
Hi, Just a question, this bug will be resolved for the Wheezy release ? I don't think so. Why that? This would effectively mean broken OpenGL for i386 apps on systems using the proprietary NVidia driver. The patch from the original report is simple and working on several people's systems. The dpkg issues are unrelated and apply to other packages as well. At least an upload to Sid with that patch applied would be appropriate IMHO, then the release team can decide whether they want it in Wheezy or not. Or is there a problem with the patch itself, preventing the bug from being fixed in Sid? Bug#640499: hardening, too
Hi, This bug prevents me to run googleearth, wine, teamviewer, ... on my debian sid/experimental amd64/nvidia since a month. Is there some guideline somewhere to install the package with Cyril or Ralph patch ? You should not use my patch, it only unnecessarily complicates things by splitting the package. The original patch by Andreas is fine, it's just waiting for someone to apply it. I compiled the packages with that patch and use them successfully for a month now, you can find them at http://www.ralfj.de/upload/debian/ - but use them at your own risk only! Bug#640499: libxvmc: please add multiarch support
Hi, Have the upgrade and install paths paths of this scenario been tested? And the case of locally modified/removed config files? I'll take libfoo as an example package that ships /etc/foo.conf [snip] Just curious ... Whatever happens here is not specific to libxvmc - see libpam-modules as another example for an MA: same package shipping a conffile. As long as the conffile shipped in the packages is the same across all architectures, there should be nothing to worry about (besides dpkg bugs, of course). If you meant this as general question, not specific for libxvmc, then asking at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=684776 might give you a better chance of someone knowing he answer ;-) (esp. if you put Guillem in CC). Bug#640499: libxvmc: please add multiarch support
As it turned out, the conffile issue is actually a bug in dpkg [1]. In theory (and once dpkg is fixed), it is perfectly fine to have a conffile in an MA: same package, as long as the content is the same for all architectures. Since the libxvmc wrapper uses dlopen, which uses the correct library paths, that's fine. So the original patch by Andreas Beckmann is actually correct. Could someone please schedule an upload? Kind regards, Ralf [1] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=684776 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? tags 640499 + patch thanks Attached you can find a patch which moves the conffile into a separate package. However, it seems the conffile problem is already in the archive: For example, libmap-modules is MA: same and has a conffile, showing the same problems as this package with just the path by Andreas Beckmann. So, maybe this is actually a bug in dpkg. Hi, Ralf Jung p...@ralfj.de (20/05/2012): is there any progress on this? This package is blocking libgl1-nvidia-glx from being installable in a foreign architecture, thereby preventing a proper multiarch migration for systems using the proprietary nvidia driver. It's a well-known fact the X Strike Force has way too much manpower, and really enjoys stalling everything. This was supposed to be just a small reminder/question, since multiarch took a lot more pace since the last activity on this bug. I did not mean to step on anyone's toes. I applied the patch to the package sources and built it here for i386 and amd64, and I can confirm that it works, but something needs to be done about the config file. If there is anything I could do to help, please let me know - my packaging experience is rather limited though (my first package is still awaiting sponsoring, but I am using some more custom packages locally). I can confirm that the rc4 is working fine for two-finger scrolling as well. Thanks a lot :) Kind regards, Ralf -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#665004: Scrolling not working properly anymore
I can confirm this for my HP Compaq 615. I'm glad the old versions can still be downloaded, since precise scrolling using the touchpad is impossible with the new version. Bug#550308: [xedit] missing deps on xbitmaps
Actually, x11-apps currently recommends xbitmap, which does not exist and is probably a typo of xbitmaps. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
