Also from my side a big thank you for your work - especially as first chair in our new TLP project times. And of course, a Happy New Year to all of you. You have been an outstanding chair for OpenOffice, and as its first chair, vaulted wonderfully over a lot of start up hurdles. Looking forward to your continued presence. Let me be the first to say you have done an outstanding job of bringing us into apache. Changing chairs is not mandatory in apache, but I respect your vision and outlook, and agree time is right for a change of chair. Like you I see this as a natural process due to changes in priorities, and if I may add your personal life, reminding that we are all volunteers. You have done alot for AOO and I personally hope for a great cooperation in 2015. rgds jan i On Wednesday, December 31, 2014, Andrea Pescetti wrote: > I've been the OpenOffice Project Chair for two years, since late 2012. > While the term is not strictly set, big Apache projects usually rotate > their Chair every 1-2 years, and OpenOffice should do the same. > > So we should look at finding a new project Chair in January, and at > transitioning from me to the new Chair at the first Board meeting. New Year, New Chair
I've been the OpenOffice Project Chair for two years, since late 2012. While the term is not strictly set, big Apache projects usually rotate their Chair every 1-2 years, and OpenOffice should do the same. So we should look at finding a new project Chair in January, and at transitioning from me to the new Chair at the first Board meeting. This is a normal transition and I'd like that we make it as smooth as possible: I'll stay as a Chair until a new one has been chosen. Stay tuned for more information: I'll share a schedule tomorrow. Of course, I plan to maintain my current level of activity in the project, and to continue as an OpenOffice committer and PMC member. It is simply correct to rotate this (mostly administrative) role within the group.
