Re: [slim] Amazon Echo question?

2021-03-22 Thread marflao

I got one Echo 4 in our kitchen connected with a 3,5 to RCA cable to a
Pi zero WH (with HB Dac Zero+) running pCP. This connection was used
before we got Spotify Family. Music is stored on a NAS (and another Pi
runs also LMS).
Currently the preferred way is Spotify Connect with the Echo.

To use the line in at the Echo, you just have to go to the Settings for
the Echo and choose "line-in" under the Aux Audio option.
I'll use the Material Skin for instance and if I choose the Pi Zero as
the player the sound comes directly via the Echo.
On the other hand, if I stop the song and say "Alexa, play [bla bla]"
then Spotify will be used and outputs it through the Echo.

So pretty simple.

My only hiccup - and this has nothing to do with your questions - is
that I am not able yet to "drop in" to the other Echo 4 which is in my
daughter's room.
But this would be another thread I assume ;-)

Alright ..I went ahead and used the details from "#15" and added them to
the "Environment Variables".
Also used a value for latency:

22658

While dxd files seem to be played now (playing time in the GUI is
running) I don´t get any sound while choosing Squeezeplay as the
player.
DSF files still won´t be played at all.

Further digging required ;-)

Thanks Ralphy, found it.

Using the squeezelite-win.exe -l command the following output devices
are shown:

22655

Now my question is which one I should use? #3, #8, #11, #13 or #15?
I tend to use #15 since it seems to point to the correct driver (but
maybe I´m mistaken).

Although I´m not sure why there is sometimes "LH Labs Geek Out V2" and
then also "Geek Out 2A Signature 1.5" mentioned.

I still have my SBT boxed (will use it for my little daughter when she
is a bit older) :-)
Orange Squeeze is already running on Nexus7 and Samsung tabs ..hence I´m
not in the market for additional "gadgets".

Thought the Notebbook approach is handy and even if I don´t get it set
up properly (to play all files inlcuding dxd and dsf) I guess I will use
it.
But would be nice though if all files will be played correctly (as via
the Pi2 in my living room system).

Many thanks for your swift response.

Tried it. Downloaded the latest win exe file, started it and pointed it
during the setup process to my NAS. Bingo.

As you mentionend I can access it via the SBT user interface and could
also synchronize it with the Pi2.
At least songs with sample rates up to 24/192 are synchronized
correctly.

With dxd files it´s rebuffering all the time; dsf files won´t be played
via Squeezeplay.
Hence I assume the audio output is not set correctly since my USB dac is
capable of playing those songs.

Most likely this is set somewhere else then in the SBT-like-GUI, right?

Guess I have to dig a bit deeper into that post here:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?96573-SqueezePlay-for-Windows-with-ASIO-DirectSound-WASAPI-and-WDMKS-device-support&p=718893&viewfull=1#post718893

Can´t figure out currently where to change those mentioend "User
Environment Variables".

Thanks so far.

[slim] Another zone | Squeezelite or something else?

2017-05-03 Thread marflao

Dear all,

need your expertise on the following:

in my living room I use a Pi2 w PicorePlayer and a Syno NAS on which LMS
7.9.0 is installed (and all my music is stored).

Now my thinking is to use my WIN 8.1 Notebook with an external USB Dac
connected to an active speaker (nothing fancy) at my patio (Notebook and
Pi2 should be "synched" then). I don´t strive for HighEnd sound but it
would be nice to listen to the same songs as from the living room system
;-)

Questions from my side are:

i) will "Squeezelite" (as described in
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?100893-HOW-TO-Squeezelite-player-on-Windows-8-step-by-step

) do the job?
ii) if the answer to i) is "Yes" can I also control this "patio zone"
via Orange Squeeze (which I already use for controlling the Pi2)?

In case Squeezelite is not the right choice for my intention what would
it be?

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Markus

Hmm.. maybe I made it not clear enough.
Let me explain with the following example.

I choosed "Album Artists" and selected an artist/group named alt-J.
>From the two albums I have I want to hear "This Is All Yours".
So I click on the little triangle and choose "Play" and the albums
starts to play (from the first until the last song of its album).

If you choose your album press the little white triangle at the lower

Re: [slim] Roon, a SqueezeBox ecosystem alternative ?

2015-11-29 Thread marflao

Hi volpone,

I must admit that I haven't followed the Roon/Squeezebox integrations
totally.

To be able to use Roon streaming would it mean that instead of a LMS
version Roon needs to be installed?
Will this be a kind of Roon server version which can be installed on a
Nas or is the installation only possible on pc/Mac?

In case it can be installed on a Nas is there some prerequisite on the
Nas side therefore dsd can be played?

I'm asking this because I thought I would be able to play dsf files via
my Synology (pinkdots LMS version) /SBT combo but due to the fact that
my Nas is "too old" (not the right Arm version) it didn't work out.

Cool!!!

@ Ben (in case he is scanning this thread ;-)):

I don´t know if this was already mentioned here in case "Yes" pls bear
with me.
Once I upload new music to my NAS I open LMS and perfom a "Rescan"
(Basic Settings => Rescan Media Library)
After this is done I grab my tablet and "Refresh" the Categories Albums,
Artists, Genres & New Music in OrangeSqueeze.

Done that I see for instance the new uploaded album in "New Music".
The strange thing is that some time later (probably with a new start of
the app?!? Not 100% sure when this really occurs) the latest uploaded
(and refreshed) album isn´t iisted anymore in "New Music".

Any clue why this happens?

Thanks in advance.

Genre browsing works based on your "tags".

Hmmmsorry to hear that.

I´m currently running DSM 5.0-4493 and LMS 7.7.3-035...so far so good.
Nothing to complain yet.

I already asked this in another forum but since I haven´t received any
feedback yet I´d like to post it here, too.

The question I have is regarding the Foobar settings, in particular the
PCM Sample Rate setting.
Should this always be set to 176400 (regardless if it´s a DSD64 or
DSD128 or even higher DSD file/album)??

Thanks in advance.

Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!

2014-05-29 Thread marflao

A BIG THANK YOU from my side for the new preview version.

It doesn't crash at the start, newly added albums are visible right
after pressing the "New Music" symbol (in earlier version I always
needed to "refresh" it) and the current playlist is back again ;-)

Great... Love it.

Re: [slim] Synology DSM upgrade to 4.3/5.0 | Any impact on SBT?

2014-05-28 Thread marflao

OK... thread can be closed ;-)

I upgraded from DSM 4.1 to 4.3 at first. Then updated as proposed LMS.
After that I upgraded to DSM5 and updated afterwards as proposed LMS &
the Perl app to the latest versions.
The SBT needed also the latest version.

So far everything runs and sounds brilliant as before.
Cheers.

[slim] Synology DSM upgrade to 4.3/5.0 | Any impact on SBT?

2014-05-25 Thread marflao

Hi,
don't know if this is the right forum (maybe "Touch" or "LMS" is
better?) for my request.
If not pls move it to the correct one.

I'm current running LMS (Version 7.7.7-006) on my Syno DS213 NAS (with
DSM 4.1-2668) and everything works like a charm.
And although everything is fine I'm tempted to upgrade to DSM 4.3-3827.
This version is shown in the Syno GUI as the one I could upgrade to. I
would expect that v5.0 will be shown as the next upgradable once 4.3 is
installed.

Question now to other Touch/Syno owners: have you done those "upgrades"
(all the way to DSM 5.0) without any negative impact on the Touch? Will
the Touch behave like the situation before the upgrades?

Would really appreciate your experience here.
Thanks in advance.

After deinstalling /installing the app the problem remains.

Yep..I´m in the same situation...neither that I can find the "current
playlist" anymore nor that I would be able to delete a certain song from
that list besides the one which is currently playing.
In addition to that whenever I start the app I get this "No players
found" pic (although it´s only for a split second).

Besides that I really like the app.

Cheers.

Thanks for that, John.
Indeed, I have a NAS in place although it's not the most powerful.
Therefore I'll keep your remark regarding running LMS on the CSP
definitely in mind.

I still have another question regarding the connection between CSP and
DAC.
Would there be a problem to use a spdif cable with BNC on one end (CSP)
and RCA on the other (DAC)? And what would be the highest bitrates if I
would use SPDIF instead of USB?

I hope you don´t mind if I jump in here ;-)

The CSP2 sounds very interesting and I guess I will get one too, once it
will be available.

I got one question for which I couldn´t find an answer on the Community
Squeeze pages (or did I miss this ?!?!). In case this has already been
asked (and answered) pls forgive me asking it again: what kind of
formats will the CSP2 be able to play/handle (in my case all music will
be stored on a Syno NAS)? Assuming the external DAC is capable of DXD &
DSD will this also be handled by the CSP2?

I don´t want´to start a new "DSD or not DSD" debate here but I´m just
curious what the WB/CSP2 will be capable of.
Personally I haven´t listened to any DXD or DSD files yet and I´m not
sure if I would hear the difference to a 24bit something song. But I
might would give it a try to find out myself ;-)

Thanks in advance for your feedback and looking forward to the final
product ;-)

Yep...would be my wish, too.
And.maybe it would also be possible to change the size of the album
covers manually? ;-)

In addition to that new uploaded albums aren´t shown automatically. Once
I start Orange Squeeze and choose "New Music" I still need to use the
"Refresh" option to be able to see them.
Don´t know if this a bug but would be great if this can be fixed (or
implemented) anyways.

Besides that I like the app :-)

Cheers,

P.S.: I use the app with a Nexus 7 (2012 model).

Re: [slim] Announce: Community Squeeze

2013-04-11 Thread marflao

Hi everybody,

as far as I understood it the wandboard could be used as an altenative
or substitute streaming device for a SB device.

So let´s assume my beloved Touch will go to the happy hunting ground
would I then be able to play my music - which is stored on a Syno NAS -
via the wandboard (which would be connected to my DAC via Spdif cable)?

If the answer would be "Yes" is there a limitiation regarding the
bitrates (e. g. flacs > 24/96 won´t be played)?
Any other restraints I should keep in mind?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Cheers,
marflao
