Delta tells you the plane type when you purchase the ticket. =)

I used SeatGuru three different times in the past two days... my

Re: OT: Airline power (was RE: [ACFUG Discuss] Re: Who's going to CFUnited?)

2006-07-06 Thread Dean H. Saxe
Great point Charlie. I actually checked SeatGuru for Delta's
domestic fleet and none of the domestic planes that I looked at had
power. Anywhere.

I often use SeatGuru on longer flights (anything over 2 hours is
worthy of looking at SeatGuru, IMHO). Unfortunately, due to
summertime travel and airlines cutting the number of flights in order
to fill the flights they have more completely, its getting much more
difficult to get a seat you want. And getting an upgrade is nearly
impossible if you're not a platinum level member.

I was on four flights last week (ATL-TPA-MIA-CLT-ATL). Every single
one of them was completely full. Even the airport parking was full!
I can't wait for the fall when things will calm down a bit...

Now if only there was a way to find power plugs in airports, that
would be awesome. Some have gone to the extent of even removing
available plugs from common areas! O'Hare is notoriously bad, as are
Heathrow and Gatwick. Atlanta is surprisingly easy to find power,
especially with the Delta "relax & recharge" stations.

My experience on domestic airlines is they very rarely have power in coach
(cattle class). The exception is when you get a flight that is on a plane
headed internationally, such as the Delta 777s. Also, the bathrooms quite
often have power, but I refuse to hang out in the shitter to get some juice.
Quite unfortunate, though it means when the battery dies I get some time to

There is an internet cafe in the expo area:

And I'll say as well, for those
curious about the weather, that all is fine here. Just arrived tonight
by way of BWI. Just normal wet streets, no probs on 95, beltway, or 355.
Now in the hotel. All is lovely and calm. We'll be in the hotel most of
the time anyway, so let the rains come. We will learn and laugh!

Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Re: Who's going to CFUnited?

2006-06-26 Thread Dean H. Saxe
Weather has sucked recently for travel. Flying home from Boston on
Friday night we boarded the plane at 2:30 PM. We didn't go wheels up
until sometime after 8 PM. Yup, 5.5 hours of sitting on the plane on
the ground. My laptop battery died after ~2 hours, so no more
internet access via EV-DO. My other laptop battery was good to
finish watching Office Space. Then the cell battery wound down to
nothing. Boredom set in.

Hopefully I don't have the same issues this week going ATL - TPA -
MIA - CLT - ATL.
