[e-users] Terminology - minor bug / annoyance

2012-11-27 Thread Gavin Costello
Hello,

When I copy text in terminology by selecting with the mouse, the text
is highlighted correctly.

However, when I paste with middle-mouse click, the selected
highlight remains, unlike standard copy/paste behaviour.

Any chance this could be fixed.

Thanks and regards,

Gavin Costello.

Hello, Gavin Costello,
Thanks for the comment.

But I found that Gnome-Terminal also has the same behavior.
What do you mean by "standard" copy/paste behavior?

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear.

Even when scrolling or clearing the screen, the highlight remains.

Gavin.

Hmm maybe you are telling something else but it works well here.

When I scroll, the highlight remains and Gnome-Terminal is also same.
When I clear the screen(with clear command or ctrl+L), the highlight
disappears.

Can you be more specific or do you have any video recorded?

I see a similar behavior, but only if using GNU screen.
When highlighting text and scrolling (via Ctrl-A Esc then Ctrl-U or
Ctrl-D) the highlighting remains on the same position within
Terminology.
I'm also using mrxvt, where the highlighted text moves as I scroll.

Scrolling with mouse wheel (without GNU screen) works fine.

this is because screen may be updating parts of the screen, without
actual scrolling the buffer (it just repaints parts of the viewport).

What could be done in terminology is see if the text underneath the
selection changed, if so unselect.

Yes, I should have mentioned that this is using tmux.
