Re: Another emergency!! - at home oxygen tank?
PS Kitty is hyperthyroid and it doesn't help anything. Her alternative vet has her on MacroForce (when I can get this head strong calico to take it) to boost the immune system and Intrasound. Kitty has tumors in her lungs--that doesn't help anything either. Try the Willard Water and the others if they meet your needs and gut feelings for what is best for your little friends. - Original Message - From: catatonya To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Sent: Monday, September 12, 2005 8:09 PM Subject: Re: Another emergency!! - at home oxygen tank? Re: Another emergency!! - at home oxygen tank?
Try adding Willard Water to his waterit will help hydrate him, I use it with filtered water for my girls. The filtered water will leave a scum or minerals in the bowl in a couple of days (they don't like it changed daily and get about a gallon at a change--they won't change so I adapt). With the Willard Water it stays clear and clean and the glass bowls have no residue. WW is available at a lot of heath food places and on the internet, I thought people were nuts who recommended it to me--water is water---they are not nuts. - Original Message - From: catatonya To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Sent: Monday, September 12, 2005 8:09 PM Subject: Re: Another emergency!! - at home oxygen tank? Re: Another emergency!! - at home oxygen tank?
Don't take O2 too litely...It is a fire hazard..something of the same order of putting gasoline in your car We do that every day too...Don't smoke around it...but hopefully you aren't anyway Don't leave the tent closed while the animal isn't in it to use the O2...If the concentration of O2 gets very high it can be much more dangerous than it is at a lower mixture which is what is intended to do..just add a small amount to the air...not make it pure O2...and don't seal the carrier too tite..just so the air doesn't breeze through and it should be perfectly safe... Re: Another emergency!! - at home oxygen tank?
My dog Fern was on an at-home oxygen tank for her last week (she had lung cancer). She did not like it very much and had to get mild tranquilizers to deal with it, but it made her breathe much much easier. The way it worked was that the oncologist put a nasal oxygen tube in her nose (one shallow stitch) and we then rented an oxygen tank and long line from a human medical supplies office, and the tube hooked right in to the line. I do not know if they do this with cats, but even with Fern they had only done it one other time for a dog. Let us know what happens.
