OT - Flower Essences

2006-05-18 Thread Nina

Hi gang,
Gosh everyone's been quiet lately!

A little while back we were discussing RR and I mentioned that I'd heard
of something similar called "Emergency" Essence. They're made by a
company called Australian Bush Flower Essences. I just ordered it and
another one called "Relationship" from Earth Spirits,
http://www.earthspirits-herbals.com/ a distributor for them in, I think
it's in MA. If you decide to give the FEs a try, don't order from
ABFE! They charge $12.50 a bottle, (ES charges $11), but the kicker was
they wanted $55. for shipping! Does anyone just click and pay that??
They also had the FE in cream form and mist spray. I'll let you know if
the EE and Relationship works better than RR with helping
ferals/newcomers to my household.

Michelle,
I haven't actually had much use for the EE yet.  I've practically gone
through my bottle of "Relationship" adding it to all the water dishes.
The way in which homeopathics work, (so subtly), I never know if it's
just the passage of time, or if they really do help, you know?  I have
heard that some cats that don't respond to the RR, do with the EE.  I
feel like it's worth keeping it in the house, just in case.  What's
going on?  Who needs EE?  You?

Ha! Probably.  But no, I am just incredibly behind on email after
several weeks of craziness with work, and so just read your email from a month
ago and thought you might have found out by now if it works.  I did read
your email recently about me not being on the list as much. It's just an effect
of my crazy work schedule lately, and I have been having sciatica, which makes
me not want to sit at the computer for very long when I get home. You are all in
my thoughts, though.
Thanks,

P.S. How is Gypsy doing these days?

Belinda,
We were referring to an Australian Bush Flower Essence called
"Emergency".  I got mine from Earth Spirits,
http://www.earthspirits-herbals.com/
a distributor for them in, I think it's in MA.  I just sent my latest
little foster dog off with my husband for a plane ride to NJ to her new
forever home :( .  I tried not to get upset, I thought I hid it pretty
well, but another little dog in our household, Angel, was so upset, she
was shaking.  I used the EE on her ears transdermally, and she calmed
right down.  Now, I can't say it's the EE, or my reassurance, but she
did settle down right after I put it on her ears.  I'll go take some
myself and let you know if it helps me!

Tellington TTouch massage has a movement done on the ears known to calm
animals. Perhaps it was less the EE and more of the touch you used to apply it.

Yes she does do recommandations. She is the one who recomended
me to Emergency over Rescue. I myself found better results with
Emergency than Rescue. I found that the Em does alittle more
for my cats than the rescue but that's my opinion.

She is not a vet but she does give flower essence advise. And
most have worked for me. I find Sandi helpful and am very happy
with her products and service.
I have been happy with her service and products for about 2yrs
so I order from her online all the time.

I've heard that using it for intestinal worms is just BS. I couldn't say
for sure but the explanation I've seen on how it supposedly works would make
me think it is BS. The claim is that the sharp edges of the earth pierce
the exoskeleton of the worm (worms don't have exoskeletons) and then the
worms die of dehydration (while swimming in a wet environment). If the
earth is sharp enough to cut the worms, why wouldn't it cut the intestines?

You really don't want to inhale much of it, but I've used it before on
carpets, etc. to kill fleas. Farmers often give the food-grade DE to
cattle to kill any intestinal parasites...also works well on fire ants! ;)

Who can say? :) There hasn't been much scientific research in the area
of internal parasite control...my guess is that it may work (if it does
in fact work) by piercing the waxy protective surface of the parasite
much as it does to external parasites (the microscopic "shards" of DE
wouldn't seem large enough, in my opinion, to actually pierce any kind
of exo-skeleton)...but if that waxy surface is compromised, my guess is
that it would leave the worm/parasite susceptible to a pretty hostile
environment (digestive enzymes/bacteria?)...just my guess! I would
assume, however, that the biggest benefit to cattle/grazers would be the
added mineral content of DE...

I had heard about not inhaling it... I think that caution was why I
didn't try it for my ferals before. Maybe I'll post to the feral group

I think that precaution only applies to when you are actually applying
the stuff! It's dusty, but quickly settles...heck, I've even doused a
few cats with it with no ill effect...as long as you get the
agricultural grade (not swimming pool grade) DE, it's okay for the cats
to ingest it!
