"Cornerstone's Anja", born at about 5:00am this morning and doing well. She was up and nursing quickly, had her vet check, and this afternoon practiced wearing her halter for a short time, (under close supervision). She joins "Lilli" born exactly a month ago. We are happy to add these fine fillies to our little barn and look forward to the many years of fun we will have together. Anja's sire is Anvil's Morgen (Modellen) and her dam is Sonja ( a Karibu daughter). "Lilli" sire is GP 23 Knut and her dam is Budeia (a Gromar daughter). Kathy is now hoping to finally get reacquainted with her real bed in the house and catch up on some much needed rest. There is nothing more grand than seeing these beautiful little creatures born that God has created. Off to check horses and rest, Kathy Rollins, Cornerstone Fjords, Deer Park, WA. ** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Re: Two year old filly/temperament test
This message is from: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Rosemary, Thank you for taking time to share your story about your sweet filly. I love all these positive anecdotes. I love this list. Thank you everybody for contributing such valuable info and nice thoughts. There are no fjord folks near me but I feel like I have fjord friends all over the US now. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have had quite a few guests come visit my girl. Each and every person who sees her, thinks she is very beautiful, and very friendly. When someone new arrives, she trots in to the barn to see who is there and then greets them with a whinny. I had two friends come at the same time, both with children, ages 14 and uh a 5 year old boy, who was sweet for the first 5 minutes. The adult with the 5 year old allowed him to go wherever he wanted, (running at all times, she also brought her 6 month old yapping terrier puppy. I always try to be hospitable, but keep things in order so no one gets hurt. The 5 year old, ignored my corrections, continued to run circles around my filly in the barn and out of the barn, while the dog barked and barked The 14 year old girl bless her heart was smitten with Farra, was hugging and brushing her, all while the dog was shrieking, and the child was running around the barn. He was also playing kick ball with my yellow labs so they were running around outside the barn chasing the ball. LOTS of noisy and moving stimulation! I almost fell over when the boy's mother in an attempt to get him to stop running told him to go brush her legs. She then boasted how she always has him brush her horses legs because she does not want to bend over to do it! Her horses are over 20. The boy then proceeded to squat down and brush her legs, all while the dog is shrieking. I watched my filly for any signs of flight, she was not tied, nor did I have a halter on her because I believed the visit was going to be short and sweet and not chaotic. My Filly seemed to know , she was focused on the boy, her eyes were soft, ears were attentive she did not move a muscle. She took it all in stride. I was very proud of my filly. It was pretty cute, the little girl was so in love with Farra, I could not help but watch and smile as she bestowed her hugs and kisses. This little mare surprises me every day with something new. Carts etc.
This message is from: "Ron & Sherrie Dayton" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I have been reading many of your thoughts on carts and other horse drawn equipment on the list. It is good that we are all sharing ideas and concerns about safety and function. As was mentioned, there are many vehicles out there to avoid and many have come to our shop for repair and rebuild. Each year we do a free tune up at Sunwood and help each other get their equipment in order for a safe and enjoyable drive. Safety is key at our driving events and we have had a very good track record with our equipment and many satisfied customers. RE: Colt born on Olivia Farm
This message is from: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Solveig, I envy you. We are still waiting for two foals to come. Our farm is normally done by now. We try to get all the foals on the ground before haying season and show season. Things just seem to be late this year. -- We have three outstanding geldings from last year's crop for sale at our farm. Two owned by us and one by Amy Evers of Dun Lookin Fjords. All have been handled and all do the basics. (lead, tie, pick up feet for farrier, stand to be groomed, washed, load and haul, and are just nice colts!) Contact Amy at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or myself at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you want more information on these yearlings.
