Gratulere Med Dagen!

Believe it or not - my sweet fjord mare, Ansi, has her birthday tdoday!
Gratulere med dagen.

We went to the Ballard (Seattle) 17th of May parade today. I really, really
(as in really) was planning on taking Ansi and Elvis (May16th birthday)., BUT,
got asked to baby-sit darling grandchildren for the weekend. Uff da. Oh well
there is always next year.

I have to say I saw 5 or 6 beautiful (we know they are) fjords there presented
by the Pacific Northwest Fjord Horse group. My hats off to the gentlemen who
had on a beautiful Norwegian (wool) sweater. We had unseasonably warm
weather. The crowds absolutely loved the fjords as they went by in the
parade. I proudly was able to identify what kind of horses are they??

Soo, Hip Hip Hurah!! Hip Hip Hurah! Hip Hiip Hurah - Hurah, Hurah, Hurah,

I think it would have been easier taking my fjords than marching in the parade
with a 2-year old in the backpack.

Hope you all had a great sytende Mai!

Ragnhild (Roni) in Graham, WA
Ansi and Elvis -- the Fjords... who both got lots of fly spray today. We are
in a 1-day heat wave here.

I found some blunt tipped scissors ...either seat belt or bandage...that are
sharp enough and
sturdy enough to hack away at a Fjord mane.

Sweet, romantic Fjords

2008-05-18 Thread Willows Edge Farm
This message is from: Willows Edge Farm [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I had to share this story with everyone since I've never experienced
anything like it before.
Our stallion Ole has been so depressed the last few days since his favorite
mare, Elsie, went up to the Jensen's for training. Seriously, he is moping
around, standing in her stall, lower lip totally sagging.
It's so pathetic and yet romantic at the same time...during breeding time,
he would actually go up and give her kisses and nuzzle her after he was
done. Like I said, I've never seen anything like this before. I know
horses all have their favorite buddy, but is this an extreme?

Alf is back! Thanks to all who e mailed me!

Dear Fjord horse list,
Many thanks to all of you who sent me advice re: Alf.
By Last thurs. there was only slight improvement in his attitude; vitals were
stable; so had the vet come out and look at him; and decided to sedate and tube
him. Tolerated everything well; no impaction on rectal still she commented on
how weird and acetone/fruity smelling his manure was. Spent the night in with
Val again; and then both were turned out in the AM with their grazing muzzles
on for 4 hours to get them re acclimated? to them again. Same thing Sat Sun.
By 5 pm this evening; my beloved buck n toot boy was once again charging
around the pasture in usual fashion; showing Diva, Jake; and Valdemar who the
prince is!
Will continue to check vitals;attitude; gut sounds feet ; etc; but I think we
have turned in the right direction. Lymes is pending; will repeat the
chemisties and CBC this week. Manure appeared normal today and yesterday.
Thanks again for being a great source of advice for the novice owner.

Congrats Susan!
So, what does it mean? Was he actually collicing all this time? Was
he in a ketonic state (creates the fruity/acetone smell in people who
are ketonic), if so, does he have blood sugar issues? ?
I am so happy to hear he is back!
