This message is from: "Jean Gayle" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Good for you Donna, keep feeding them but be sure the vet checks them before you get them fattened up otherwise they do nothing. No one seems to want to report on their neighbors so vets classically around here do nothing. Took over five year of hassling the sheriff until he got tired and fired up the vet to get behind him and help a herd of horses that were starving. There were more buried (hidden) than live on the place at times. We all felt terrible but nothing worked so you get to where you can't face seeing them and avoid the place. The owner finally went to jail and things seem back sane again. Cats were stacked and urine and feces soaked, donkey dying of cancer etc. It does help to pull in or threaten to, the SPCA, PAWS and any animal rescue groups you know of to put pressure on the authorities. Maybe you will have more luck sooner than we did. This message is from: "Denise Delgado" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> listers: sometimes a quick call to the local t.v. station does wonders, especially if you say you have already tried local options and got no response. there is no excuse for starving or ill-treating an animal in the united states these days. you can always take them to the spca or call a rescue chapter if you can't afford to feed and house them. imho, i think they should jail these people and starve them for a few weeks to let them know what it is like for their animals! ok, ok, i'm off my soap box. see yadenise - Original Message - From: Jean Gayle <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Thursday, June 15, 2000 9:47 AM Subject: Re: Horse Abuse > This message is from: "Jean Gayle" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Good for you Donna, keep feeding them but be sure the vet checks them before > you get them fattened up otherwise they do nothing. Is there a Hooved Animal Rescue in your state? You can probably find it on the net. Maybe they can help you or the local Humane Society. It's very difficult to get help in this area. Has anyone tried talking to the owners? Some people just don't know how to keep horses. Good luck to you. Mary O.
Horse Abuse
This message is from: "Donna Tauscher" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi List Hope it's OK to vent here. I just contacted the Sheriff's department to report a starving mare and her filly I saw in a pen not far from my house . I didn't know horses could be that thin and still be alive. I found out that this neglect has been ongoing , but I am the first person willing to report it. I'm just sick about it and I can't understand why nobody said anything. She's a brown mare and her filly is a tri-colored paint (very pretty heads) Their feet are so long that they are almost walking on their hocks. I just put some hay in the pen . I asked the dispatcher - She said I wouldn't get in trouble if I did. I'm going out to hug my chubby Fjord mare , Gracie , and say a prayer for the paint filly and her mom. I hope their suffering will end soon. Donna
