Re: [Flexradio] My Rookie Performance in the Recent FMT
An additional source of error is the fact that the 5000 does not tune continuously. It tunes in steps, and they are irregular, so an additional correction is required. When you are watching your WWV phase display, a part of the error you see may be due to this. This may not be important unless you are trying for sub -100 mHz accuracy. Hi Jeff, For about $150 you can get a used Trimble Thunderbolt GPSDO that will give you a precision 10 MHz reference signal to put into your Flex Radio. Tune in WWV and watch the Phase display. I did, and got within 27 mHz for one of the runs with my GPSDO'ed 5000a. Better than 0.1 Hz on three of the four. Brian, WB6RQN, got within 5 mHz on one!!! I got within 10 mHz on a test awhile back. Re: [Flexradio] Daisy Chaining Drives
I strongly recommend that you do NOT daisy chain ANYTHING through the FLEX-5000. I would not even connect another device on the same Firewire host bus controller (HBC) that the FLEX-5000 is connected to because the FLEX-5000 running at 192K per channel is consuming a lot of bandwidth. Also the FLEX-5000 has to be powered on for the pass-thru to even work. -Tim -Original Message- From: flexradio-boun...@flex-radio.biz [mailto:flexradio-boun...@flex-radio.biz] On Behalf Of Richard Lawn Sent: Saturday, October 09, 2010 5:15 PM To: flexradio@flex-radio.biz Subject: [Flexradio] Daisy Chaining Drives I'm a new Flex 5000A owner. Hi Rick I think my best advice would be to buy a longer firewire cable and connect directly. Otherwise, try what you have and if you have any issues, revert to the advice given earlier! 73 Neal Campbell Abroham Neal Software www.abrohamnealsoftware.com (540) 645 5394 On Sat, Oct 9, 2010 at 5:14 PM, Richard Lawn wrote: > I'm a new Flex 5000A owner.
