Re: [Freevo-users] newbie: problem playing audio and video
the problem was with xine trying to use the xv driver. I now installed the nvidia driver for my TNT2M64, and now it does also play DVD movies... exept for the sound... no sound yet when playing DVD's This doesn't seem to be a freevo problem: when I lauch xine without any parameter, the result is the same. movie plays, but no sound. greetings Jang Lemmer Aubin Paul wrote: On Sat, Nov 01, 2003 at 08:18:16PM +0100, Jang Lemmer wrote: even if sound does work now, reading dvd does still not work: screen gets black for 2-3 seconds, and then it returns to the freevo menu. mplayer_stderr.log and mplayer_stdout.log don't contain any error. I disabled arts, and now it works for mp3, audio-cd and sound from the mpg-file. I think I don't need to recompile mplayer, as the system will be used only for freevo. I don't need artsd to be running. even if sound does work now, reading dvd does still not work: screen gets black for 2-3 seconds, and then it returns to the freevo menu. mplayer_stderr.log and mplayer_stdout.log don't contain any error. any idea for that? for the rest everything works so far (as soon as I correct the settings for the different TV-channels ;-) ) thanx Jang -- Master Computer Club Luxembourg Asbl: Mozilla op lëtzebuergesch: http://www.mccl.luhttp://www.lemmer.lu/~mozilla --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program. Sounds like mplayer might not be working with your sound card... if you have artsd or whatever the KDE sound mixer thing is called it might be blocking. You may have to recompile mplayer with arts support, or use a non-blocking sound driver (like the OSS SBLive if you have a Live, or any ALSA driver) On Sat, Nov 01, 2003 at 07:04:00PM +0100, Jang Lemmer wrote: > Hi, > > I'm currently trying to set up a FreeVO box, however I still have some > problems playing audio and video files: > freevo can see my mp3 files as well as the different tracks on an > inserted audio cd, however when I try to play them, it simply jumps from > one file/track to the next one without playing anything.
