Out of all the listers out there, just wondering if there is anybody that uses
your mac for a telephone? I'd really like to unhook the telephone and go
straight internet for everything. Can this be done? on a PPC Mac?
I am aware of Skype and others like that... but I'm curious what "experience"
others have had, good or bad.

iTunes shuffle question

2009-09-04 Thread Roger Kulp

Is there a way to turn off iTunes shuffle? It's really annoying when
you have a CD with multiple symphonies or an opera where it plays the
acts or movements out of sequence.

Of course there is. From the menu : Controls > Shuffle > Turn off
Shuffle. (which is what it will say if it's on, it will
 say 'Turn On
Shuffle' if it's off.)

If shuffle isn't the culprit, it may be the way you're ordering the
songs in the playlist. You want to order it by Album, which will
automatically put the song on the album in track order.

If it's still not in order, (and it may not be, depending on the music
source) select each track from the album, press command-i and enter
the correct track number for each piece.

You can also merge multiple tracks into one.

<http://www.3am.pair.com/iTunesJoin.html> is $10 shareware, and
<http://www.dougscripts.com/itunes/itinfo/jointogether.php> is free
for the basic version.

This will let you merge the entire album into one track so even in
shuffle mode it
will play the entire thing in order.

Anyone do the firefox/(and maybe t-bird) updates today?

(Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3)
Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3)

I lost control of Apple menu bar in FF/T-bird. If I clicked on item and
moved cursor down the menu closed. Clicking the 3 colored window buttons
didn't work either.

So far the fix is to pull cat 5 and
shutdown,
wait a couple minutes
then restart.

Change computer/user password.
reboot
replug cat 5.

Hummm since I was online at bank when this started

Bruce, I agree with you partially. But I also think this problem is
caused by Flash 10 on older machines. I think Youtube and other such
sites just keep moving along with flash. And perhaps not exactly
thinking about usersor they expect everyone to get the hardware that
works flawlessly. I'm going to prove this someday by installing older
versions of Flash and find a website that support that and see how it
plays out. The problem indeed is finding a website that supports flash.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the notes, and suggestions. I saw this a while back, but was
concerned with the "for G3" descriptive, which would certainly rule out my
G5. Is that just a generic target-use moniker, where it does not matter on
what machine it's installed on?
Thanks,
Dana

I returned the drive, since the friend who owns it has another large
drive to dump saved files, much more than I do. He also has a much
newer Mac. I also gave him a copy of PhotoRec and demo versions of
File Salvage and Data Rescue.

Now I'm waiting to hear if he got any positive results. He's mostly
hoping to recover photos he took.
