Hi Philippe,

http://live.gnome.org/TwoPointTwentyfive states that "Freezes begin by
23:59 UTC on the Monday specified", so you don't need any
request/approval just now, I think. You have still a few hours. :)

http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/gdm/branches/gnome-2-20/gui/gdmsetup.glade?r1=5264&r2=5505
causes two fuzzy strings in 2.20 translations which are currently

I agree. I think doing translation regularly is useful, but in practice
starting translation after the string freeze ( no expected change ) is more
desirable for translators. At least lazy translators like me. :)

I agree with Wouter. I think it is not critical for 2.22, so a string

If you are talking about obsolete messages ( which are commented out
with # ) , you can look at
http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_node/msgattrib-Invocation.html,
but as Johannes stated that keeping this messages if useful because of
the possibility of reappearing in the future. If you are not sure, it
does not a good idea I think.

You can use msgfmt for both error checking and compiling po files
(http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_node/msgfmt-Invocation.html).
Then you can put your .mo file ( with the same name as your
application ) into the directory where its is typically under
/usr/share/locale/LANG/. (LANG is your native language)

Hi David,

Your last commit (#2535) cause a fuzzy string in the translations due
to the lack of branches 2.20 and/or 2.22. It would be great to see

I agree. It is very practical to merge the uploaded po file with the

+1 for comments, but what is the idea of developers about always
warning translators?

You can do that by right clicking on the string? But who wants to do
that for more than 1000 strings.
People should be warned about the situations like that. This kind of
rules are always problems for new translators (at least at the
beginning for me).
We have good documentation about this kind of stuff which we can
promote more. Comments are wellcome and I think a review and control
mechanism is necassary and also good. Because even experienced
translators can do such mistakes. However we (translation teams,
coordinators...) should direct people to these resources. Updated and
centralized documentation (tips, warnings and etc.) is a solution when
it is used efficiently.
